Calletano Gutierrez was nominated by his colleague, Jeanne Baker.
Baker has been working at Haven Drive Middle School for almost three years and has known Mr. Gutierrez for the entire time - first as a vice principal, then as a principal. Under Mr. Gutierrez's administration, the staff have seen a great improvement with student morale and feel safer on campus. Baker has also seen job performance and overall faculty morale improve greatly as well.
"He is approachable, always has a positive attitude and greets you every time he sees you, which adds to the positive environment I feel he wants to promote," Baker said.
Mr. Gutierrez is very organized and makes sure his staff are well equipped in all areas of the school. If there is a problem between faculty or students, he addresses the situation immediately.
"Of all the administrators I have worked with over the years, I can honestly say I have enjoyed working with Calletano the most," Baker said. "With great pride and admiration, I recommend him as an excellent principal."
I have known Mr. G since he was a child. His number one priority are his students and staff. The love and care that he has for his students is amazing. He has so many strength such as: caring, positive attitude, leadership, willing to listen to staff and students, approachable, problem solving skills, determination, strong communication skills, willing to learn, team oriented, professional, morals, ethical, and honest. He has always focused on academics for all his students, past and current. His desire is for his students to be successful and lead a productive life. He is very deserving of this award.
I have known Mr. Gutierrez since we were kids. He comes from a good family, it’s no wonder he grew to be such a well rounded & respected gentleman. Evey time we had the opportunity to catch up or I asked how he was doing, it was always wonderful to hear that he was working hard towards his goals both personal & career oriented. I believe he is a blessing to the the faculty, students & those who have the pleasure of knowing him. You are a life changer Tanni, so deserving of the fruit in which you have planted!
I have learned a lot from Mr.G. To be patient, kind and loving to kids. He always goes above and beyond for every single staff member and student. He has truly exceeded any expectation anyone has had for him.
Mr. Gutierrez has always had the students well-being as his priority here at school. He listens and always has a positive response to any situation. He is well deserving of this award.
Mr G. Gutierrez, even in high school was a very caring student and mentor to his fellow students.first concern was his students. As vice principal academics for his students was his primary goal and continued that priority as a principal. To this day his ability to work with his Teachers, staff and students, can only be for the betterment of New Haven Dr. middle school.
I've never met anyone who loving and as dedicated for his school and students as much as Mr. Gutierrez. His positive team oriented attitude,leadership, and hard work are what we need more of. I pray that you choose him for this amazing award.
Haven Drive’s gain was Lamont School District lost. Mr. G is a go getter. His first priority is the children. He has a hunger to learn and to succeed. I can only see great things being accomplished by Mr. G. I’m honored to call him my friend. I recommend the award to go to Mr. G.
I have witnessed first hand the respect that the entire student body has for Mr Gutierrez. They don’t fear him they respect him. He has an untiring devotion to being an educator. He is a very worthy and deserving winner of this honor.
Calletano has always been a deviated educator. I worked with him when he was a PE teacher at our middle school. He motivated students during class, rallies, coaching, and our in the yard. He has the best attitude that is contagious! As a friend and colleague, when he told me he was moving to administration I was very sad to see him leave. But I was very excited for the new school he would help run. His positive leadership and willingness to listen and problem solve makes him an approachable leader. And that’s what a school needs. He’s hardworking and dedicated in all aspects as in his life. I’m honored to have been his colleague and thankful we are best friends. He tells me all the great things he’s doing at his school and I knew he would be a positive influence for the staff and students at Haven Drive. I hope you choose him for this award. I’ve taught 23 years at a middle school and Calletano is the best principal I’ve known.
Mr. Gutierrez is such and inspirational individual. I have personally known Cai for over twenty years. Before and after he became a teacher or principal and throughout all those years he has shown nothing but the utmost and absolute dedication to better himself and others around him. His professional demeanor is one of his greatest attributes and as a parent I would feel great comfort knowing that such a dedicated educator and professional individual is helping my children grow and learn.
Cai is the most positive administrator I have worked with. He always shows both students and staff respect. He is very approachable and always takes the time to listen to ideas and if there are problems, he always tries to find solutions. I appreciate his approach and obvious desire to improve our campus.
Mr. Gutierrez is the principal at the only middle school in the small rural town of Arvin, Ca. The school was known for student violence, drugs, and disrespect, but that has all changed in the recent years. Mr. Gutierrez takes the time to get to know the students and supports them, which builds mutual respect and relationships. The school has seen a huge drop in suspensions and expulsions due to positive relationships with students and their families. His hard work has not gone unnoticed within our district and the community.
Mr. Gutiérrez has been able to improve the school in the pass years so much and make it a safer place for are kids I really appreciate the time and effort he's giving the kids, coffee with the principal is always a pleasure,he spends time with us as parents and giving time to share all are opinions, excellent principal.
Though he sees all the negative aspects of the student body and staff, Mr. Gutierrez remains optimistic and positive. He truly seems to believe in and wants to make a difference in the students' lives. He definitely is very approachable.
As superintendent of our district, I can't agree more with Ms. Baker. This is Calletano's 6th year with us here in the Arvin Union School District and we are very fortunate to have Cai with us. Cai is always positive, dependable, and encouraging to all students, staff and parents. Under Cai's leadership, Haven Drive has seen vast improvement in academic achievement, lowing suspension rates, and improving student and staff morale. Mr. Gutierrez always puts the needs of students first and is a positive role model for everyone. Cai has exceptionally high morals and is extremely honest and ethical. In all of my years working in school administration and supervising school site administrators, I can honestly say that Mr. Calletano Gutierrez is one of those on the top of my list. There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Gutierrez has changed many lives at Haven Drive Middle School and here in Arvin, and he is very deserving of the Lifechanger of the Year award!.
