Kayla Muffley was nominated by Shirley Gergar, the parent of a student.
"Ms. Kayla is a world changer," said Gergar. "Our son, like so many others, was so scared for school, but we didn’t know it would come into a completely different territory. He has ADHD and autism, and school wasn’t looking like it was going to happen for him until I found BHA...That building holds the biggest treasure in the world! Mrs. Muffley completely changed my son. I went from walking him in the building and staying for 15 minutes every day, to dropping him off at the drop off line, to having him do what seemed impossible and ride the bus! It's all because of this woman. She has gone above and beyond to help my son learn his ABC's and how to spell. She shows this care and compassion to each of her students while juggling IEP’s and teaching five different grade levels! I don’t know where we would be without Mrs. Muffley! She is truly a diamond in this world!"
Ms Kayla impacts these babies lives in more ways than one could express . Our son is now reading at or above level and in the beginning of the year he was just forming sounds together! Anyone deserves this award it’s ms Kayla! She is a Jem and a treasure to be protected forever! We are forever grateful for her and her colleagues forever! Thank you ms Kayla and thank you bha! We love y’all!
My son began with Miss Kayla during a time that was really difficult for our family for a number of reasons. He's struggled in other alternate programs and often felt really misunderstood both in school and at home. His academics were greatly impacted as he would refuse to do them. Things have changed in a number of ways since my son has started at BHA. He has a greater handle on his emotions, is able to better focus, and generally retains the information better the way it is presented. He has the emotional support he needs to be calm enough to learn. Miss Kayla took the time to truly learn my son and what works for him before trying to teach him and it made all the difference. The success in school has now trickled positivity into our home life. My son is proud of himself, and we are so proud of him as well! We're using his coping skills at home, he is better able to articulate his needs, and he now has a positive interest in school.
The work that Miss Kayla does doesn't just change the students lives, it changes their whole families lives as well!

Kayla is a wonderful teacher who cares about her students and works with them so they understand their value in this world. She works with a population of students who have challenges that most kids don’t. She helps them to succeed and makes their world a little more peaceful. She is truly a special kind of person.
Kayla has inspired me to be a better person every day and teaches me new things constantly. She has the kindest soul and loves anyone and anything that needs it. She goes above and beyond for her students and teaches them to have kind hearts. She is so caring and has positive impact on all who are around her. She truly is the most deserving of this award.
Kayla is one of the kindest and caring people I have had the pleasure of knowing. We met her when she was working at my children’s daycare and she was one of my children’s favorite teachers. Kayla even babysat for us for a period of time after leaving the center, and I always knew my boys were in the best of hands with her. She is genuinely compassionate about teaching and caring for children. I wish there were more educators like Kayla in the world!
Kayla is an amazing person and teacher. I met her on my first day of work at the school 6 years ago. She's been a great friend and mentor to me. She is always willing to help whether it's a student or coworker. She goes out of her way to make sure her students have everything they need to make a great learning environment. She is so deserving of this award.
Ms Kayla is the true meaning of life changer . She is completely genuine, is always looking out for her students, goes above and beyond daily . She makes her classroom fun, colorful and educational at the same time . Her students are lucky to have her on their team !

Kayla has such a kind heart. She is one of those people who is meant to be a teacher. She loves all of her students and makes her classroom and fun and safe place to be. No one is more deserving of this award than Kayla.
Mrs. Kayla is a wonderful teacher. She takes care of my kiddo everyday and makes sure all of her needs are met. She is compassionate and caring and very forgiving I agree that each day is a new day and no grudge is held. She also keeps open communication with me with any concerns or advice she may have and also is very good at giving me both good and bad updates throughout the day. My daughter has a history of having trouble in a regular school atmosphere and she thrives in her class to the fullest. Mrs. Kayla also meets her where she is academically and encourages her to do her best.

Kayla has always been such an Inspiration. She cared about her students and would always go above and beyond. She is such a free spirit and it shows. She takes into consideration how each child learns and adapts her lessons to fit them. She remembers that they are kid and sometimes needs to be kids. She is always planning on fun activities or lessons where the kids sometimes forget they are even learning. It doesn't stop at her classroom though she is there for every student in the building creating spirit days, and school wide activities. It takes a certain type of individual to do the work she does and she always does it with a smile on her face. She is such a kind soul and I hope she continues to touch the lives of children for a long time to come!

Kayla worked as a tutor for me 15 years ago and was AMAZING. She still keeps in contact with her students from then because she made such an impact. She goes out of her way to inspire and help students be the best they can be.

Ms.Muffley came into my life while I was a HS student, she was an instructional aide at the time. She never gave up on any of us. She listened and really listened. Most people say they want to help you but that’s it. Ms. Kayla is not that, she went out of her way daily to make sure I was okay and how my night was. She is funny and always lightened the mood with her humor or dancing. She deserves this award. Period. Come meet her and you’ll agree. She works with younger kids now and just through pictures you can see she puts her all into those kids. If I had a teacher like her from the start, my time as a student would have been different. Kayla tries everyday to give her students experiences that some may not get in their lives like Holiday dinners,Christmas, Birthday parties all while teaching a curriculum designed for various aged kids and somehow she manages it with a smile and a lot of singing and dancing I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving than her.

Kayla is a wonderful teacher and person! I’m very thankful to have her as a coworker, she helped me so much in my first year as a teacher at BHA last school year. She’s as caring as she is country strong. Her students and colleagues will unanimously agree that she is the life changer of the year.
I couldn’t think of a more deserving teacher to be nominated for this award. I consider myself lucky to not only know Mrs. Muffley but also to call her my sister.
When you think about the qualities that a teacher should have and the definition of what a teacher is- Mrs. Muffley completely embodies both. She pours her heart and soul into the classroom and “her kids” as she calls them :)
They are not just students to her, they truly are her kids & she treats each and every one of them like her own.
She creates a safe, trusting, fun learning environment for her classroom.
Along with teaching your regular subjects, Mrs Muffley also teaches a lot of different things. For example, it’s ok to rake all the leaves up and to jump in them afterwards :) Countless science experiments and fun celebrations are observed during her time in the classroom.

A great listener always there when you needed someone to talk too one of my greatest memories was her helping doing our makeup and hair for graduation she was one of our biggest cheerleaders and I was so blessed to have a role model like her in my life

Mrs Kayla or my wife as I call her has changed my life In so so many ways. For starters she gave me 2 beautiful sons. She also gave me the strength & courage to achieve my goals in life. She comes home from work every day, cooks (very well!) cleans, cares for our kids, & still has the time to listen to my day. She is always there for me or our children for whatever we need. She is completely selfless. She is the strongest woman I have ever met. With the kindest heart I’ve ever seen. The care & compassion she shows everyone in her life is unbelievable. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting her has been touched for the better in one way or another. On top of all that, I must say she is also very easy on the eyes!! I couldn’t think of a person who would deserve this award more. Love you beautiful!!!
