Nurse Lisa is a positive in this very challenging environment. Without fail, if a child has an issue, she knows about it, has interacted with the child and the family prior to school starting, and makes a weekly check-in to make sure all is going as it should be. Additionally, she visits each building every day and checks in with students and staff. She is available at a moment's notice for an emergency.
"Nurse Lisa is a change agent assisting in our district to keep health a priority," explains Velie. "Managing the health of 3,000 students (some with very special needs) all by yourself is a huge task. Doing it with a smile and a laugh is amazing. Nurse Lisa takes care of the inside of her students as well as the outside. Nurse Lisa is, quite simply, amazing!"
Lisa has always had a positive attitude and she was an awesome supervisor. You are lucky to have her.
Lisa and I worked at Mary Free Bed in the Pediatric unit for a few years. One of the smartest pediatric nurses I’ve worked with in my career. A born leader and a graduate of GVSU bachelor degree of Nursing-BSN.
Nurse Lisa was born to be a nurse. The care she shows to each of our students and staff is second to none. No matter if it’s giving a band aid or a full on medical emergency, she naturally and effortlessly handles the situation. If that weren’t enough, she goes above and beyond bringing education and health minded programs to the district such as Flu Shot clinics, dental clinics, As well as many other beneficial trainings for staff. Lisa sees that the “whole person” is treated. Health and mind. We are incredibly lucky to have her as our school nurse!
Nurse Lisa servers as our district nurse (which includes approximately 3,000 students). She oversees our medical plans and trains all building MERT Teams (medical response teams). Lisa positively interacts with students and does her best to meet the needs of all of our building needs when called on! We are lucky to have her professional/medical experience on staff.
You can tell nurse Lisa really puts her heart in everything she does. She wants to make sure everyone involved in any situation is taken care of and always follows up. She is also a friend and I enjoy her company. THANKS Nurse Lisa
Nurse Lisa is just a fun, caring person. She interacts daily with students throughout our district, assisting where and when she can. Nurse Lisa works in 6 different schools in our district. She visits each building daily to check in and help out with giving meds, administering inhalers, or helping with playground injuries. She also hops between buildings throughout the day based on if there is an emergency or a need that arises that she can assist with. She is a great lady and I know WUS is lucky to have her!
Nurse Lisa has been fabulous to have at Wayland Union Schools. I work in the front office of the 2-3 grade elementary building and she has been an invaluable asset since coming to WUS. It has been fabulous to have her here as a medical professional who can assist in evaluating injuries, illnesses, etc. Nurse Lisa is also always willing to help out in any situation where she feels she can be of help, even if may not be a medical situation. She is a wonderful team player and we are blessed to have her!
Lisa is such a huge asset to our district! She is the lead coordinator and valuable member of our emergency response team and tackles every situation in a kind, professional manner. I feel honored to have the opportunity to work along side of her!

Lisa is a "Lifechanger" to our district! Lisa is always willing to go above and beyond to assist with all students and staff. She has a great base of knowledge and is always willing to reach out when we need help. Lisa's strongest asset is her relationship she shares with each student and staff member she meets with.. Her contagious laugh and smile is sure to make you feel better.
