Raquel Ardoin was nominated by her colleague, Katelyn Ray.
"With the surge of COVID issues in our school, on top of the normal bumps and ouchies that elementary-aged children receive, our school nurse has been running around the school nonstop to assess and attend to every student's needs," said Ray.
Mrs. Ardoin gets many calls a day to go see a student, and she comes in like a superhero: smiling and reassuring. She puts the students at ease and allows them to continue on with their day.
"She listens to these sweet angel babies intently and wholeheartedly, ensuring they know that she understands and she will care for them in any situation. Some students just want to see Mrs. Ardoin because they are having a bad day, and they need a bright shining smile and an empathetic ear. That is our school nurse! That is the unsung hero of our school, and the one who makes all of the boo-boos and ouchies go away. The heroine of all of the stories in our school: Raquel Ardoin," said Ray.
