James Beckers' nominator wishes to remain anonymous.
Mr. Beckers has been teaching kindergarten for Dallas ISD since 2000, and always puts his students first. The nominator recalled a time when Mr. Beckers was visited by a 17 year old former student, who asked Mr. Beckers if he remembered him. The former student then asked if Mr. Beckers remembered that he use to stutter in Kindergarten, and Mr. Beckers answered, "Yes, do you remember that you were my echo?" The student then thanked Mr. Beckers for all his help.
Mr Beckers always goes above and beyond his student's needs, and often worries about their academic success. He tries to teach them good manners, respect, dignity, and not to give up when solving problems.
Mr. Beckers enjoys sharing his knowledge and skills with other teachers to help them promote student success. He is always searching for ways to help students take responsibility of their own education and shares with his findings with his coworkers. These are a few of the many reasons why Mr. Beckers is a LifeChanger!
Mr. Beckers was always the best prepared Teacher. All teachers assigned to our campus were in for a treat as he took every opportunity to mentor those who were going to take care of his students. He made children not only better students, he made them better persons.
Mr. Beckers is a pleasure to be around. He always has a positive and optimistic view on life and encourages everyone to never give up. As my father, he always taught me and my sister the importance of education and to always strive for success. In the education field, he has always been an amazing mentor and someone to look up to everyday. His patience is extremely admirable which is one of his traits that has led him to impact the lives of many young children. He gives endless support and love to everyone around him whether it’s his students, family, or coworkers. There’s no doubt in my mind that he absolutely deserves to be life changer of the year!

James Beckers has been my teacher each and every day of my life. He is not only my father, he is also my role model. He has encouraged me to always do my best, to never give up and to pursue my dreams. He has taught me that through hard work and dedication everything is possible and that education is the key to success. He was the one that inspired me to become a teacher and he has been a wonderful mentor every step of the way. He is a very selfless person, always caring for the well-being of others and trying to help everyone in any way that he can. He loves being a teacher! Every day, we talk and share stories about our school day and he always offers advice and strategies that help me accomplish my goals.
Mr. Beckers is an excellent teacher and great human being. Day by day, he is concerned about his students and their education. He encourages them to keep going and teaches them academic knowledge that helps them excel in their future. He teaches children in kindergarten how to read and write which also impacts the lives of their family members. Some of his students have taught their parents how to read and write as well, as an outcome of their education with Mr. Beckers. Also, after school, he works tirelessly at home in addition to his workday until late at night. Mr. Beckers is a dedicated and professional individual who is always looking for the welfare of his students first. He is a great example to follow as well as an excellent professional teacher, husband, and father. Mr. James Beckers is an amazing teacher. I’ve known him since 2008. He was my mentor when I started teaching kindergarten. His character traits are what every teacher should carry- kindness, compassion, focused, and determination. He makes sure every need of every student has been met.
