Mr. Valdez is an amazing algebra teacher at Highland High School. He possesses human qualities such as honesty, empathy, positivity, optimism, integrity, and compassion. He's motivational and naturally caring for his students and their families. His capacity to promote a nurturing environment for his students has earned him much admiration among students and parents alike. He is always available for anyone who needs assistance with mathematics, college planning, personal issues, or any other school subject they may have difficulties with. He encourages and educates his students on the benefits of attending college and the impact on their futures.
Mr. Valdez's professionalism in dealing with administration and parents is excellent, and he is a great example to his peers. He contributes to a positive atmosphere by maintaining his students' interest in mathematics and keeping them motivated to learn. He is always quick to identify problems with students, and he intervenes to help and ensure that students return to the right path so they may succeed in high school.
Mr. Valdez always keeps parents aware of their child's progress, not only when he has concerns, but when the student excels in his class. He maintains great communication with parents and keeps them updated on different topics that affect their children, both in terms of academics and their overall well-being. He has been recognized publicly by parents on many occasions during meetings with the high school principal.
Mr. Valdez has shared his personal and academic challenges with his students to show them they can overcome any obstacles in life. He demonstrates to his students that perseverance and having teachers and other supportive individuals in their lives can help them succeed in school and in life.
Mr. Valdez was assigned to be the girls' junior varsity tennis coach, despite having no previous experience. He accepted the assignment and challenge without hesitation. He learned the tennis rules, coached the girls, and always encouraged them to be great players, try their hardest, and demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship with their opponents/peers. This earned the players and Highland High School the respect of opposing schools in the area. His positive attitude and cheerfulness served as great motivation for his athletes at every game. His professionalism in dealing with other coaches earned him the respect and admiration of the team and parents.

It is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity that one gets the kind of support that Mr. Valdez has offered his students. Regardless of whether or not they are in his class or on his team, Valdez treats every student with kindness, respect, and support. He has cultivated a classroom environment founded on trust, which creates a comfortable learning experience as well as a safe haven for students on campus. Mr. Valdez is an inspiration to us all; from his passion for teaching to his contagious attitude, he is the definition of a lifechanger.
I have only know Mr.Valdez for a few months now but he is an encouraging person to anyone who gets to meet him. Always greets his students so positively. He is full of good energy. Mr. Valdez is a wise person as well. He is able to balance work and keeping friendly interactions with his students. He is a talented person being able to be a high school basketball coach, math teacher, role model, friend, etc… all embracing he is an amazing, honest, genuine person.
I have known Mr.Valdez for a couple years now. When he worked at my elementary school as an after school activity leader he was in charge or the WE club which I was in and he took the club on an field trip to a WE convention in Los Angeles and it was one of the most fun things I have done. Now that I am in High school I have gotten to see Mr.Valdez again because he started to work at the High school I happened to go to and even though I don’t have him as a teacher I still like to visit him often and I found out that he is also the Jv basketball coach and he also helps out the tennis team.He is overall a very nice and helpful person and I am very thankful that I met him.
I am a long time friend of Mr. Valdez and I believe he is very deserving of this award. He won’t always comment on the stuff he does so I will do it for him… he is truly a life changer and I am very proud of him for all the work he has done over his first few years teaching…especially during the pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic he went above and beyond for his students. Not only was he an innovator for his classes he went out not his way to help his fellow colleagues at Highland high school. He was the technology Liason for the entirety of the pandemic and helped with a bunch of stuff. He went out of his way to research best practices for distance and hybrid learning and shared what he had learned during the summer with his peers. Furthermore, during the 2020-21 school year he was in charge of helping all of the staff at his school transition form full distance learning to hybrid. He was always available for staff to help them set up webcams, mics and answer any general questions about using ZOOM or other online learning platforms…. I truly believe he made an undoubtedly positive impact on not only his school but his community. He never took a day off and always made sure to fully engage students on ZOOM. Despite being a fairly new teacher, he never hesitated to help others and look out for the well being of his students. For his efforts he received and end of the year certificate from the PBIS team for his work and support. He continues to support the tennis and basketball team and is always on campus making sure that students are receiving the appropriate supports. He is without a doubt a life changer and continuing to spread acts of kindness, community support and positivity throughout out the school.
I worked with Rob at Nicholas Elementary in the After School program. It is great to see him working at the high school after he finished school to be a teacher. When we were at Nicholas Elementary he helped lead the WE Program which encouraged students to volunteer not only at their school, but in their local and global community as well. He was instrumental in getting our program started and getting the students involved. During our time there he helped guide the students to create an animal cruelty prevention video, a WE Fight Cancer video and fundraiser, and a WE Walk for Water fundraiser. This program and fundraisers led by Mr. Valdez not only made an impact in the affected communities but allowed our students to develop into young leaders and understand the importance of supporting your community. Students not only learned how to fundraiser over $1000, but learned how to run an event. Mr. Valdez has taken this community drive and support into his career as a high school teachers d is continuing to make a huge impact on our local community.

I had the honor to meet Mr.Valdez when he coached my daughter, who played in the the jv tennis team 3 years ago. I have not met many teachers who have the dedication that Mr. Valdez has for all his students. No matter if you are in his class or not he is always available with open ears. I have seen students and parents able to easily talk to him and ask for advise. Mr. Valdez is a phenomenal teaches . I wish there are more like him.

I’ve known Mr. Valdez for over 15 years and reading these comments makes me extremely proud of him. He’s always been somebody you could rely on to be there for you and to not just be encouraging but also realistic. Sometimes are kiddos make us super proud and I'm about to brag on mine a bit. Robert Valdez is very deserving of this award. In my opinion of course, but let me tell ya - hands down deserving! He truly cares for his students, their academics and well-being. He's uber involved with supporting his students, coaching basketball, helping the tennis team & other groups, and even those students that aren't in his classes. He never misses a day, stays late, spends his own money on a multitude of supplies, snacks, and their individual needs. He engages with empathy, has an open-door policy, teaches with a smile and provides real-life learning. He follows up on these kids and their families and continuously goes beyond the expectations of a teaching. Now, that's a BOMB ?? TEACHER! Robert has always been a kind, caring, and thoughtful person who thinks about others before himself. When I found out he got the job as a Math teacher at Highland High School, I knew he would be a great teacher. The kind of teacher all the kids would love.
I remember how excited he was the first year he started teaching math. He had so many ideas on how he was going to make learning math fun and exciting for his students. He went out and bought supplies with his own money even though he did have much money back then, but that didn’t stop him. He was so dedicated to making the curriculum for his student’s fun and exciting that he set up a wish list for his class on Amazon. He told his family and friends about the wish list he created for his class and told them they could help his class by purchasing or donating the items on his wish list.
Robert makes the time and effort to get to know his students. He is always looking for interesting ways to challenge his students and keep them motivated to learn. He wants his students to be successful not only in his math class, but in all their other classes as well. He supports and encourages his students in every way he can because he wants every one of his students to graduate and to be successful in life. The impact he has on his students will last a lifetime. He is truly a life changer.

Mr. Robert Valdez is a kind and determined young man who strives for excellence. During undergrad, Mr. Valdez transferred schools to assist his single mother in caring for his younger brother, diagnosed with cancer. This selfless act delayed Mr. Valdez’s collegiate degree. However, Mr. Valdez remained steadfast amongst adversity and completed his degree and teaching credentials in his passionate pursuit to teach math. Mr. Valdez mentors excellence in his students by encouraging them, offering tutorial services, and promoting parent involvement.

I met Mr. Valdez during my daughter's tennis season. He was ALWAYS there supporting the girls in any way he could, letting them store all their gear in his room so they didn't have to lug it around all day. A snack for the ones that needed a little fuel. The kids love having him around. He is that cool, easy to talk to & funny teacher that the kids are just drawn to. Someone they feel genuinely cares for them aside from him just being their teacher. I feel like Mr. Valdez is everywhere all the time! I once asked him if he ever goes home and his response was just simple...he likes to help wherever it's needed. The tennis team had a booth at a game one night and he was there holding his sign trying to draw some business in and I noticed that every kid that came up was genuinely excited to see him! He acknowledged them all by name, asked them how it was going and had mini conversations with most of them. He was interested in them and I don't think a lot of adults realize how important that is to kids. It's the simple things really! Some kids just bought something because he was the one asking. There is that mutual respect there and I think an "I'll help you cause you have helped me" situation. It's so easy to just clock in and out of work each day and do the bare minimum, but Mr. Valdez chooses not to be that kind of person. He chooses to go above and beyond and stay those extra few minutes/hours to support his kids/his school and he deserves to be recognized. He is changing lives everyday with every little gesture he shows these kids.

Mr. Valdez is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. He makes the best jokes, let people stay in his class at lunch. Is always making me laugh, saying “hi” to everyone when they walk into his class no matter who it is. I actually like to learn when I’m in his class! He’s the absolute best!
i dont know where to start but mr valdez is a really good teacher. he understands each &’ every one of us , he goes easy on us if we arent doing so well , he knows how to build a relationship with everyone. his class is my favorite out of all because this is the only class that brings good vibes , theres always laughing going on , making jokes &’ so much in this class.

Mr. Valdez is an amazing teacher. He takes his time to explain problems and really pays attention to his classes needs. Making sure everyone understands the material even offering extra help for those who need it. He cares about each and every one of his students. Mr. Valdez finds new ways to keep his students engaged in order to have a better learning environment. Mr. Valdez even offers time out his day in order to help with other work not just math. Offering college help for his seniors because he wants to see us further our education. Always having a positive attitude every morning making sure to tell each and every one of us a good morning. To be honest, I’ve never really felt comfortable with teachers because I felt that their job was to teach us and not listen to our problems, but Mr Valdez was really different he actually sounded like he cared. I was going through a rough time as a foster kid so I was immediately different, and when I told him about it he related saying that he too was in a similar situation when he was my age. He’s an amazing teacher not just his teaching aspect but as a person all together so if anyone deserves this award I would definitely say that Valdez is the one.

Mr. Valdez is an SS tier teacher. He goes beyond just teaching and takes the time to get to know the students and make sure they feel welcome in the class and around campus. Nothing but positivity from Mr. Valdez.
Mr.Valdez is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He cares about all of his students on more then an academic level. He takes the time out of his day to build connections with his students. And checks on them which you don’t see that often or get lucky enough to get a teacher like that. He also offers multiple ways to solve math problems because he understands that not everyone learns the same witch I appreciate. He has made me more confident in my math skills and made school 100% more enjoyable he definitely deserve this award:)
I think being in mr.v class was amazing. He made learning fun and I was actually engaged in his class unlike my other classes. He is an out of the box thinker and is for the students. We need more teachers like this because I feel safe asking him for help or advice.
Mr.Valdez should win this award because he is an amazing teacher. He has a lot of patience and actually enjoys and takes time teaching his kids. He is very understandable and empathetic. Mr.Valdez encouragement brightened my days. Valdez always encouraged and genuinely cared for his students. He enjoys teaching and enjoys helping his students.
Mr valdez was my teacher for geometry and advance algebra , and he is the reason why i enjoy doing math.He never gave up on me and always belived in my abilities .His passion for teaching and positive attitude he brought to class everyday made me for the first time in my life enjoy going to a math class . When the pandemic happen, he was the only teacher who always checked on us to see if we were doing okay in his class and other classes, to see if our family was okay , to see if we needed food or toilet paper. I always respected and really like Mr Valdez but after seeing all the hard effort he put into his classes during the pandemic and all the effort he put to check on us , that made me idolize him even more. After i finish my school years and I get a job , Mr Valdez is going to be a teacher that i will always remember .
