Austin Baxley was nominated by his superintendent, Greg Bower.

Mr. Baxley is an educator who possesses leadership, strategic planning, care, and motivation with hands-on experience and dedication. He uses these traits to instill confidence in the lives of children and provide them with the skills needed to succeed in life.

"I am fortunate to have had the pleasure of knowing Austin for the past year and have most certainly gleaned from the experience," Bower said.

Mr. Baxley is a professional of the highest quality. He is an innovative history teacher and coach who has earned the respect of his colleagues, students, teachers, and parents. His energetic and witty style helps to fuel a friendly, positive work environment that makes people want to associate with him. Furthermore, he has demonstrated the ability to bring diverse groups together, motivating them to become positive products of the community. Mr. Baxley handles pressure well and offers help to those who do not. As a result of his efforts, he betters the lives of those around him.

"With him in the classroom, our scores are well above the state average, and our students are successful," Bower said. "The impact he has on students in class and on the field will be something they feel throughout their lives."

Mr. Baxley's professional and personal moral and ethical standards are above reproach and serve as an example for the entire community.

"Austin Baxley is an invaluable asset to our school district, our area, our state, and our profession as a whole," Bower said. "His dedication to his students, teachers, and profession has established him as one of the finest educators I know."

Austin is my brother-n-law, mentor, and my role model. I had the opportunity to attend college with him at Texas A&M University-Commerce and get to know him while he has been in a relationship with my sister. We share Political Science and History as our majors and minors. Due to our shared studies, he assisted me in my classwork and pushed me to study and research outside of my textbooks. He taught me to think outside of the box, the rectangle, the circle. and more. During my college years, Austin also became like a brother to me. He always has been reliable and has supported me through my crazy ideas. Through Austin's encouragement and mentoring, he has been a massive reason why I have stayed in college to complete my Bachelors. Without him, I know that my life would have been a little less wonderful. Austin has always been a positive spirit and role model, always encouraging others to never give up when the going gets tough. Between Austin and his wife Nan, I know that I will always have a home and people that will unconditionally love me. Austin Baxley is truly a unique individual who has a heart for helping others and teaching. I am truly blessed to know Austin and have him be such an influential person in my life.

This is my son Austin and I am very proud of him. He has always loved learning and school. He excelled in every subject, but his passion has always been History. Every year on his birthday we would take him to the half price bookstore in Dallas and he would always come home with an armful of history books which he read from cover to cover. He still has all his books and more besides. He is a passionate teacher and his students love him. I believe he has a positive on all his students.

Austin Baxley has made an impact on my son's life as his coach and on the lives of students I also work with as a colleague. Austin has taught my son integrity and what it means to be part of a team. My son has taken his job as a teammate and a student-athlete seriously. Coach Baxley has taught him to take care of business in the classroom first. I work with special education students in the same school district as Austin. I have had students I work with make satisfactory scores on state assessments for the first time in their academic careers. He has shown a dedication to the craft of teaching and instilled an excitement about history in the students we share. I'm so proud to have Austin Baxley as team member in Como-Pickton CISD and can't wait to see how he continues to impact students in the future.
