LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Randa Abdallah received multiple nominations from her students and their parents.

Mrs. Abdallah constantly demonstrates a passion for teaching and compassion towards her students. She gives the right amount of encouragement for students to believe in themselves and grow exponentially. Her kind words resonate with the students. Her motivation propels them forward, and her unique method of teaching makes math fun. She never insults anyone or discounts their abilities. She stands out from other educators because of her apparent dedication to her profession and to the successful future of her students.  

The last year school year was, without a doubt, one that will go down in the record books and one to be remembered forever. In a time of uncertainty and change, Mrs. Abdallah demonstrated the qualities every teacher should possess. This past year, online learning was a struggle for teachers and students. Adapting to this change was difficult in every class - except for hers. Immediately, Mrs. Abdallah formulated her new teaching methods and began math lessons. She began by reviewing material that was missed due to the school closure the previous school year and proceeded with the new material.

"As a parent, I was worried that my son would fall behind in math and not complete the entire seventh grade curriculum since school was completely online," said Randa Hammoud. "Mrs. Abdallah not only exceeded my expectations of completing the curriculum, but she went further and taught the students eighth grade math, as well. These students already had the challenge of taking a one year higher level math course, and they surpassed everyone's expectations."

Aside from academics, Mrs. Abdallah is also involved with nearly every school function. She showed up to every drive-through ceremony with a big smile on her face and an air hug for each student. She was also there to congratulate the students when they came to the school to pick up their certificates for completion of sixth grade. Mrs. Abdallah advocates on behalf of the students when necessary and is quick to respond to any questions or comments students may have. On countless days, she had after school sessions for students who were struggling and managed to keep them on track.

"I am so grateful for all that Mrs. Abdallah does for Riverside Middle School," said Hammoud. "Without a doubt, she was my son's favorite teacher he's ever had. She has definitely been a LifeChanger for not only my son, but for many students who have had the pleasure of being placed in her class."
