Music that Describes Kimberly
Kimberly Rogers was nominated by a family member, R'Ciera Batts.
Ms. Rogers is a phenomenal mother, principal, and companion. She makes sure all of her students are welcomed into a safe, loving environment.
"Every day of virtual school, I heard her from my room blasting 'feel good' or uplifiting music in conjunction with her intro, 'Welcome to sunshine studios... DCP is the place to be.' I saw how the staff and students' faces lit up every time they joined the morning announcements," said Batts. "She has a vibrant energy that makes her staff and students want to come to school."
Ms. Rogers has added programs such as smaller learning academies, career pathways, and the NAF curriculum (national academy foundation). She also wrote the school improvement grant. Ms. Rogers is focused on the success of her students, staff, and school. In an effort to express this, she started the bridge program at DCP, which gives rising 8th graders the opportunity to experience high school before plummeting into a new world.
"I have witnessed her revamp her school's appearance in many ways, including the gym and the pool. [She added] an overall uplifiting tone throughout the hallways using posters, visual aids, and decorations to spruce things up," said Batts. "Like the halls, Ms. Rogers lights the light within the spirits of the students, staff, and people that she touches. I can honestly say that in my 21 years of living, I have never met someone who fuels everyone around them while keeping themselves ablaze like she does."
