Music that Describes Lynne
Lynne Lewis was nominated by her colleague, Shannon Hancock.
Ms. Lewis is who every teacher should strive to be. Throughout her career, she has served as a mentor for novice and veteran teachers. Outside of her school, she has worked with leaders at the county level to develop programs and curriculum. She has also traveled the country training other educators on how to effectively use groups in the classroom.
Inside the school, she has served as department chair, hospitality chair, and SIT team member. Ms. Lewis also works with the staff orientation every year to help new staff members acclimate and feel welcomed. Inside her classroom, she is excited about what she is teaching, and she's very creative. She has created a variety of songs to help students remember the content.
"Her students will pull her foldables out of their notebooks two years later, when they are in my class and we are revisiting something they learned with her. None of that truly sums up how wonderful she is, however," said Hancock. "Lynne is always thinking of ways to help students, and she serves as an advocate for them. She loves them. When we go shopping, she'll buy something and start talking about how she could use it to help a kid in one way or another. Their welfare is always on her mind. She is very positive and uplifting to everyone around her. In recent years, she has suffered from some health issues, but she has remained more concerned about her students and coworkers than herself. Now, it's time for Ms. Lewis to put herself first and enjoy her retirement. She has taught for 40 years, and the world is a better place for it."
