Shayla Scott was nominated by her superintendent, Y'londa Kellum.

Mrs. Scott has been a highly valued teaching member of her school's staff for years. Her assignment has been with students of varying academic abilities.

"Mrs. Scott is, in my opinion, a truly gifted educator," said Kellum. "She quickly develops good rapport with her students, establishes solid routines, and employs consistent and fair practices in her classroom."

Mrs. Scott took an active interest in the well-being of each of her pupils, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. Her close contact with the parents was undertaken in a very thorough and meaningful way. Her pupils responded well to her engaging approach to education and genuine interest in them. Under Mrs. Scott’s guidance and encouragement, her pupils consistently realized measurable gains.

As a staff member, Mrs. Scott is pleasant and cooperative. She has a delightful sense of humor and contributes much to the staff as the lead teacher, both professionally and socially.
