LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Elizabeth Schilling was nominated by her assistant superintendent, Y'londa Kellum.

Mrs. Schilling is an outstanding educator! She has a passion for teaching students, and she always provides for their social and emotional needs to ensure their academic growth. From Chromebooks to stress balls, she is always there to ensure that students are prepared to learn. In addition, she is also the sixth grade department head. Mrs. Schilling is amazing at providing assistance to her sixth grade team. Her leadership skills are phenomenal in many ways. She provides PLC’s/PD’s to keep the PMS & PPA staff informed about new technology platforms. She makes “How To” videos that benefit both new and veteran staff, and she's also an iREADY facilitator. These are only a few of the many daily tasks she performs.

Mrs. Schilling is motivated to come into work everyday because she wants to make a positive impact on her students. She is most passionate about making sure that systems are in place to allow things to run smoothly for staff and students. She is always willing to go the extra mile and think outside the box to ensure that her colleagues and students have the proper resources to do their best work and achieve their goals. Mrs. Schilling is always on hand to provide support to anyone in need of assistance.

Mrs. Schilling has been with the district since 2010, when she was an intern at Michigan State University. Alcott Elementary School was her first assigned school. She gets excited when the students from Alcott enter into middle school, and they are equally excited to see her, as well! Her warm smile and generous personality is welcoming to everyone she meets. Most people don’t know that she is a huge sports fan!
