LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Roxanna Vincent was nominated by her principal, Katherine Leonard.

Ms. Vincent has been a part of the Learning Choice Academy for over ten years. She has truly dedicated herself to improving the lives of children, and has an unparalleled ability to connect with students, especially at-risk children. She inspires them to commit to improving different aspects of their lives. Her courses are the most popular on campus because of her unique, flexible, individualized instruction for each student. Ms. Vincent has spearheaded several initiatives on campus, including

• the 100-Mile Running Club to promote healthy lifestyles;
• the SeaPerch ROV Club, which enables students to learn robotics and compete at the regional and national level, and;
• the Biomedical Technology Club, which exposes students to college-level rigor and hands-on experience with laboratory work.

Ms. Vincent is consistently raising the bar, both for herself and her students, to encourage those around her to reflect and improve. Her genuine, positive demeanor is contagious, and it helps improve the school culture in innumerable ways. From sparking up a conversation with a quiet student during lunch to driving students at 7 AM on Saturday mornings for robotics competitions, Ms. Vincent's dedication has no bounds. She devotes her time to improving her students' educational experiences. 

Ms. Vincent spends each weekend attending professional development seminars and conferences, and is always quick to share relevant resources with others. Her students demonstrate high achievement on state testing in the sciences and have been awarded internships and positions in both the higher education and private sectors. 

Students are always comfortable approaching Ms. Vincent with any issues because of her positive rapport and genuine concern for their well-being. Her classroom is decorated with positive messages and student achievements. Her students created their own awards to give her in order to recognize her incredible work. 

Ms. Vincent never compromises her moral and ethical standards. She holds her students to high standards, and goes above and beyond to help them reach their potential.

"Through both small and large gestures, Roxanna has contributed immensely to the improvement of our school culture and continues to do so on a daily basis," Leonard said. "Though she would never expect recognition, as the administrator at the Learning Choice Academy, I can attest that she deserves nothing short of the excellence that she provides to her students each and every day."
