Congratulation to John and The Crandall school. He is one of the BEST!!
Mr. Nutt has truly changed my life and every other student that has walked through the doors of the band hall. He is constantly working his hardest to make our band program the best it can be. His dedication to the program and the connections he makes with his students is what inspired me to become a music educator. I am so proud to be able to call Mr. Nutt my band director.
Hi, my names is Jillian Nutt and if you couldn't tell I am Mr.Nutts daughter. I may seem biased but I have seen my dad change so many kids life through teaching and I can whole heartedly say he deserves this award. Out all the teachers I have had I have never seen someone who invests so much into their students, not only does he teach music, he teaches his students how to go through life. I think my dad deserves this award becuase he truly cares for each and every student that walks through his doors.
I've had the privilege of knowing Mr. Nutt my entire life. He's like my second father. I can never express how much he means to me.
This past year has been difficult and I couldn't have made it through without him. He encouraged me to move to Crandall after he found out I was struggling in my previous school and join his band once I was enrolled in CHS. I wasn't so sure I would like it much; I've never really been involved in music much. But now, I don't think I could live without going to band first period every morning. I'm so excited to get involved in music and have the ability to play with others; all thanks to Mr. Nutt. Throughout the years of knowing John, his love for music and people has always been so visible and contagious. He inspires me and so many others every single day.
The world needs more people like Mr. Nutt. I'll never be able to thank him enough for all he's done for me. <3
Mr. Nutt is the best band director ever. He is Charasmatic funny sarcastic and serious about music. He is the father of music and for a lot of kids they don't want to let him down. This is what makes him the best life changer of the year and the leader of a successful band program.
This is such a great honor yes Mr. Nutt Slayyy
I thought school would have stayed boring, but everything changed when the band regiment attacked. Band is stressful and sometimes I think about quitting, but when I realize he will probably yell at me, I abandon the thought. He would most likely say something encouraging to convince me and I appreciate the fact that he would actually try to keep me in this amazing band he's created.
You are an amazing band director
Your a pretty swell fella :)))))
Mr. Nutt has allowed me into his band program after three years of not being involved while everyone else in my grade was. He has taught me many things and has truly changed my High School life.
Dear Mr. Nutt you have taught me great ways to use my Vocals in Rock band. I have grown tremendously and thank you for that.
You are a amazing example
You are a great leader and role model!
he is an outstanding band director and all in all a great educator
Thank you for taking the time to have a personal relationship with all of your students. I really appreciate the time you take to make us better musicians.
Mr. Nutt is a really good teacher, and really made me a better person than what I would've been without him
He’s a teacher that genuinely cares about his students and goes beyond his responsibilities as a teacher
The best teacher I’ve ever had! So inspiring!
Mr. Nutt you kinda scare me sometimes but you are a great role model and make band so much fun! Thank you
You the best Mr. Nutt keep it on with the band and thanks for the inspiring words you tell us
I have been in band since 6th grade and I am currently a sophmore at Crandall High School. Mr. Nutt has changed my life so much by expanding the band program. I am able to enjoy playing trumpet in marching band and jazz band. I am am also in the rock band class and am hoping to take music theory next year. Mr. Nutt always pushes us to do the best we can do and I am forever grateful for him. He is very understanding when I make mistakes and has influenced me into pursuing my music career. I think I speak for everyone when I say Mr. Nutt is a wonderful person and has inspired everyone at CHS.
I have been in band since 6th grade, i am currently a junior in high school. Mr.Nutt has changed my life for one and i know he has for many other people. I remember the first time i played my instrument in front of him, i was so scared... he told me “Don’t worry you got this” as i continued to play this song i picked in 6th grade to audition for 7th grade band. Mr.Nutt gave me the confidence to continue to go through the song and to continue to go through band. He has sparked my interest in music. I’ve heard stories of how he was there for his students when no one else wanted to be. Mr.Nutt is a wonderful man and band director with the best attitude.
Mr. Nutt has influenced the lives of each of his students. Mr. Nutt is not only a fantastic and gifted band director, he is also a man that installs hope into every person that steps foot into his band hall. He has this aura of trustworthiness and dependability. This is the reason most students will go to Mr. Nutt if there is a problem. It is also the reason as to why his students have such a strong connection with him. The students and Mr. Nutt bond over past experiences and similar interest. Mr. Nutt is the type of person to make you feel welcomed and at home. Most will say that being in band is like a family, however it is much stronger than that. Mr. Nutt deserves this award because of the many lives he has impacted here at Crandall High School.
In a small community people hear about and see those that are making an impact and changing lives. My children are still very small but our high school baby sitters and family friends are all quick to tell us how amazing Mr. Nutt is. Watching him interact with students and seeing the level of mutual respect speaks louder than words ever could. I'm so blessed to raise my boys in a community where people who truly desire to 'be the good' are living and working!
Mr. Nutt definitely changes lives. You know there are sometimes some kids that just need a "place"? A place to fit in... John Nutt has made the Pirate Regiment a PLACE for every single student. Kids that don't have a place anywhere else, and honestly, maybe aren't even the best musicians, but they all find a home in Mr. Nutt's band. It could be working on the crew, managing the instruments, lead soloist or a member of the drum corps... everyone finds a place in the Pirate Regiment. Giving every student a place changes their world... gives them a hope and future! Mr. Nutt... life changer... not just this year... but every year! Thank you, Mr. Nutt for what you do!
Mr. Nutt is an amazing director who has made a tremendous impact on the lives of my children! We are so blessed to have him as a director in Crandall!
As the Athletic Director & Head Football Coach, it’s imperative to have a strong working relationship with the Band Director, and that’s exactly what we have. Mr. Nutt is great to work with because he cares about one thing...KIDS! He’s a huge part of the successful culture of CHS and CISD.
Mr. Nutt was instrumental in changing our daughter's life! She was a shy, timid young girl growing up. When she began high school she taught herself how to play guitar and really worked to perfect her skills. She tried out for the rock band under the direction of Mr. Nutt and was chosen. Mr. Nutt encouraged and challenged her not only in the classroom time but also outside of school when he would play at coffee shops he would call and have her join him. Her experience under his guidance really caused her to bloom into the young adult that she is today. One who is extremely independent and hard working. We are forever grateful for the time, energy, and love that Mr. Nutt shared not only with our daughter but all of the students that he has each year.
Congratulations Mr. Nutt! You truly deserve to win!!
I have been in band since 6th grade and this is my junior year. My first year of band camp was very life changing. A month before I had just suffered a great loss, and the first thing that I did afterward was band. I did not want to be active and be around people at all. It was very hard , but when I met Mr. Nutt and fully understood what he stood for it was even harder to not want to participate. The atmosphere of was welcoming. Him wanting the best for us and the band made me want to become a stronger person. I can honestly say that I have grown a lot because of band and Mr. Nutt's leadership. He can say a few words and they mean the world to you because that is how impactful he is. When he is yelling at you from his band tower saying that "you can do better than what you just did," it makes you want to do better. Although at times a lot of us band kids think he;'s crazy, at the end I walk away feeling like a better person and a stronger musician. I am not pursuing a career in music, but everything that Mr. Nutt has instilled in me I will take and apply to whatever path I do decide to take.
When I entered Crandall High School, I started off involved in the Rock Band and Marching Band classes. Now that I am a senior, I have involved myself in the Jazz Band, AP Music Theory, and helped Mr. Nutt with musical projects and student mentoring (along with staying in Rock Band and Marching Band of course.) Mr. Nutt has sparked my love of music and as I move off to college in the fall of 2018, I plan on pursuing a degree in music due to his musical inspiration inside me. It is an impact I can never repay and shall always remember.
#LCOY
Congratulations Mr. Nutt, We are very pleased with how far Trevor has come with the rock band. Well Deserved recognition.
Mr. Nutt You really are an inspiration and you really are all that You are said to be in the above writings. Thank You so much for everything You do for the Kids and everything You do for all of Us ! Congratulations and You really do deserve this ! Sincerely, Tonya Moreland (Ranette and Andre' Moreland's Mom) #LCOY
Mr Nutt IS a remarkable teacher and my daughter has been so thrilled in his classes the past 2 years. She was so excited about his nomination that she texted me the minute she found out. I believe most people go from kindergarten to graduation and can't really say that they have even had one teacher that affected them like Mr. Nutt obviously does. Thank you for the passion and love you have for your career, and the dedication to the kids lucky enough to have you as their teacher. You mean so much more than you know.
Mr. Nutt was our band director when I was in high school in Seagoville. He started a "rock" band there and I participated and always valued his experience and his positive influence on all the students around him. He may be humble, but he is very much responsible for the positive growth, positive experiences and lifelong appreciation of music by his students.
John Nutt has had an amazing impact on our family as a whole and makes incredible sacrifices for his students! My grown children have even brought what they learned in his many programs to church and share their talent to spread the good news and word!
In 6th grade I joined band and I had asthma so I wasn’t confident that I would be in band because of my breathing. But the one thing I will always remember is Mr. Nutt saying don’t worry will get you to your goal that has inspired to stay in band and it’s changed my life cause I’m 1% away from my goal and never thought it would happen.
I'm. Very impressed with how far my son has come when it comes to playing the drums. Symbols & being. apart of "Lee Roy Jenkins", a.k.a rock band. Mr. Nutt is an extraordinary Band director!!
Mr. Nutt was my band director for 7 years, and I've never met anyone that cares as much about their students as he does. His office door was always open to anyone who needed advice, info, or even a shoulder to cry on. He knows that his students are human & that we make mistakes sometimes, but that never stopped him from pushing us to be our best. Throughout my time in the band with him I learned a lot about self-discipline, hard work, and determination. Mr. Nutt definitely made a positive impact on my life, and I've seen him change the lives of hundreds of other people throughout the years as well. There is nobody more deserving of this honor than John Nutt.
- I have been in Crandall band since I was in 6th grade. Although I did not have Mr.Nutt as a band director my first three years in band, I remember seeing him at band events held at the high school. I remembered thinking how cool the high school band sounded, and how I couldn’t wait for my freshman year in band with him. I think anyone cloud agree that Mr.Nutt was (and will always will be) a very joyful person with a very quirky fun personality. As a teacher, he dedicates his time in teaching us, the students, the elements of music while continuing to shape us as young adults. You learn valuable life lessons with him, such as attacking the note as if you heard someone knocking at your door at 2 in the morning. “You wouldn’t say, ‘who is it?’ You would say, ‘WHO IS IT?!?’ “ And countless others. If anyone deserves this award, it is Mr.Nutt without a doubt. If he can inspire me and countless others to pursue a career in Music education or Music in general, he has succeeded not only as teacher, but as a great individual as well. It has truly been a great journey having him as a band director.
Mr. Nutt is exciting to watch and listen to as he works with the students. His love of music as well as job of teaching is contagious. The students love him and his dedication to them. It shows in the respect and results the hard work of learning music and marching routines.
My daughter is only in her second year of band, but it's already evident to me how much Mr. Nutt cares for the program at CISD. He has assembled a wonderful team of instructors and you can tell all of them are passionate about what they do and I think a lot of that comes from Mr. Nutt.
Mr. Nutt has changed my life because of him i am no longer shy and i am confident in pretty much everything i do, through all of the band practices ive learned that hard work and determination can make something amazing
Mr. Nutt has been an inspiration to our granddaughter since she first met him when she was in 6 th grade. She is now in 9 th grade and still totally loves this man. He has made her life better and now she comes home with a smile on her face because she got to see him. He has made a huge impact in her life with band and the music and through her grades and mental health too. She always is telling me how if it wasn't for him she doesn't know if she would still be here today. Thank you so much Mr. Nutt we are looking forward to many more years with you.
Mr. Nutt is truly a life changer!
While having two children that have been part of the band program from 6th grade through high school, I have also had the privilege of working closely with Mr. Nutt as part of the band booster organization. His passion for music and the care he shows for each of his students is more than admirable. The countless number of lives he has influenced and changed for the better through music has been a blessing for me to witness. The personal growth each of his students accomplish under his direction in their self confidence and musical talents is proof that this is his true calling. He is using his God-given talents to influence these impressionable minds in a positive manner through music that they will carry with them and no doubt remember the rest of their lives.
"Life Changer" is most definitely an accurate accolade for John Nutt!
John Nutt has been, and still is, instrumental in keeping the love of music flowing in our family for several years now! He is a multi-talented musician! Music is his second nature! He is also a wonderful mentor to students, friends, and family alike. We are blessed to have him at Crandall ISD and exceedingly blessed to call him our friend. He is a great team builder and leader! So deserving of this nomination!
Mr. Nutt is one of the most inspirational people I have ever met. Him adopting his daughter was super influential in my decision to change my last name. He encouraged me to try out for drum major and I could not ask for a better man to be director and role model.
John Nutt is an extraordinary man! He has given my shy son so much encouragement. My son is one of those students that doesn't realize how talented he is but with Mr. Nutt's persistence he has succeeded beyond measure.
Mr. Nutt is not only a director but a great friend and role model. They say that people come into your life for a reason and We are very grateful for him!
He is very deserving of this award!
Our daughter graduated from Crandall in 2008 she had Mr. Nutt for a teachet for several years...we all loved his energy and dedication he had for all of his students and how grateful he would always say that he was to teach at such a great school where the parents really support their kids and how polite the kids were!! We are the ones that ate grateful to have him as a teacher in Crandall...Mr. Nutt is the BEST!
My kids absolutely love Mr Nutt! They have been playing for the Pirate Regiment since they were in the 6th grade. Both are in High School now, and continue to love it. I believe band may be the only reason they like school. Ha Ha!! My son was inspired to pick up a 2nd instrument and playing it in Jazz Band last year, then Mr Nutt, found a place for him in the Rock Band this year. Encouraging him to continue to play, and learn all kinds of genres. Mr Nutt shows enthusiasm for music, and it bleeds into these kids, its so exciting to watch!
Mr Nutt, is definitely the coolest! I listen to how he interacts with the kids during practice, too funny! Makes me laugh!
Thank you Mr. Nutt for everything you do!
Mr. Nutt is an incredible guy! He is so very talented and always has a smile on his face. Each year he is willing to bring a variety of bands out to our elementary school for our STAAR Pep Rallies and Friday Assemblies; they come out and play for us but they have fun while doing it! Thank you for the inspiring our students and staff.
This world needs more men like Mr. Nutt.
I'm very impressed. tho I don't know him I am not at all surprised at his passion and accomplishments because I know his Mom and Dad Thanks to them for raising such an amazing man.
I was always the shy kid who never took a chance, but Mr. Nutt was able to see the talent I had and helped me become more than I could ever hope to be!! He continues to help encourage me to this day. Hands down the absolute best teacher/guider/HUMAN BEING I’ve ever met!
Without him, band would not be the family that it is today. He really cares about each and every one of his students, and wants the best for every one of us. Without him, I probably would not have joined the Corps of Cadets Aggie Band at A&M, so I am very thankful for his influence on my life. Also, as my former DM so nicely stated..."I support John Nutt!!!"
Mr. Nutt is such an amazing band director. He constantly pushes myself and others around me to become better musicians and through that, helping us become better people.
Mr. Nutt is THE best. The bio said how he increased the size of the band and that was through his passion for music and his love of kids. His ability to bring out the leadership qualities in his kids is amazing. He always has a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Mr. Nutt is AMAZING!!!
I have the pleasure of knowing John as a friend and fellow worker for many years. John's dedication to God, his family, students and love of music is colossal.
John Nutt is a gem among educators. In my 11 years in this profession, it has been rare to find a teacher who opens themselves up so completely to their students. John is available, always, when his students need him, and his advice and leadership extends far outside the classroom. As a peer, John is flexible, fun and has a great sense of humor. Just last week I called John and asked him to participate in a project the next day. He rearranged his schedule to accommodate my needs. Every district would be better with a John Nutt on staff!
Mr. Nutt is an amazing teacher. He is passionate about what he does and helps students find the passion within themselves too. He teaches students to find the drive that inspires them to be better, not just in band but in their classes so they can participate in all the band activities. Crandall is very fortunate to have Mr. Nutt in our schools and community. Mr. Nutt ROCKS!!
There really aren't words to accurately express the impact John Nutt has had in our family. There is a quote somewhere that reads, 'if you love my child well, you love me well'....this is about as clear as I could state it myself. I feel loved because of how amazing he is with my daughter, not just growing her musical talents but her ability to lead and feel confident and quite simply.. do life. His program helped her fit in and find her place, when she was feeling lost in a new town. He is more than a teacher, he is a life changer! How completely fitting!
Mr. Nutt was my band director 6-12th grade and one of the main reasons I stayed in band was because of him and who he was as a person, teacher, and leader. Love him and he very much so deserves this!!
Thank you for all you do for our students! The best band director!! I want to thank you again for sharing such a wonderful moment with Crandall high school band.
There isn’t enough good I could say about mr nutt! He is no doubt the reason I enjoyed high school so much. His passion for band and for teaching students and helping them discover things through music is amazing. He is genuinely such a full hearted and wonderful man
My husband was in band and I've heard many stories from his 4 years at CHS and all of them were fond memories of his time spent in band!!! I've heard so many times about how amazing Mr.Nutt is and how great of a mentor and role model he was!!!
I have witnessed John Nutt teach, inspire, and lead students for over a decade in Crandall. He is a wonderful teacher that offers the most real-life experience for his students as he navigates them through life in music.
He worked with both of kids in band. He takes the time to make sure they get it right. I know they appreciate it.
All things said in the bio about Mr. Nutt are true but one thing it may have left out is how He always has a smile on and just has fun! Whether he is performing, teaching, directing or serving, he is always genuine and inspirational. He truly is a life-changer.
I am a CHS band alumni (2014). My freshman year of high school I participated in band and volleyball. Mr. Nutt has always encouraged everyone to participate in many extra curricular activities and is always willing to work around our other schedules and remain understanding. After my freshman year, I left the marching band to pursue my love for volleyball. I immediately knew I made the wrong decision, and at the end of my sophomore year, I went to Mr. Nutt and was welcomed back into the band with open arms. He was always supportive of me and my desires, which was a lot more than I could say for some of my other teachers. If there is one thing I miss most about high school, it’s being in the band. Mr. Nutt built a family oriented organization that was amazing to be a part of!
Mr. Nutt has been instrumental in creating a wonderful Crandall Band community. Both my girls have been in the band since sixth grade; it has truly been the best experience. I have always been amazed at the dedication he has in directing such a large group of kids with some intricate marching movements. The community he helps to create makes all the kids fell welcome and gives them literally a second home and family. You can see his love for the students and music in everything he does! He truly cares about all his students! As a parent, I have always been honored and feel very appreciative to have my girls as a part of the Crandall Band!
Thank you for everything you do Mr. Nutt!!! You are a life changer!
He is the best teacher in Crandall and has helped both of my children in so many ways. I am so thankful that they have him to look up to.
I love him. He is such a kind and caring man. The kids he works with daily respect him and look up to him. They know he really cares for what is going on in their lives and rwspect him for it.
I couldn’t think of a more deserving person.
Mr. Nutt was not only there for me as an instructor throughout my high school career, but personally as well. He would always lend a hand, ear, or shoulder depending on what you needed that day. The best part of high school was high school band! And it was because of Mr. Nutt.
Not only was he such a huge part of my life in high school. But he also officiated my wedding, and I refused to have it any other way. Mr. Nutt is the most inspiring, influential, caring person I know. And I am a better person for just knowing him.
Mr.Nutt provided me with life lessons and amazing memories. He deserves this award more ham anyone I know. He treats his students just like his family.
Probably the best band teacher I’ve ever met!!!!
John Nutt is my son's "person". For 3+ years, he has been/is the "go to" for my 16 year old bass player on not only ALL things musical, but those things that occur during the daily walk of life! John's recognition of our son's talent has given him the necessary confidence to grow into a better musician, a better person. He has the ability to push one to give 110% and to excel, without it seeming like work at all! He can do this because he truly loves what he does and he always gives 110% himself! Our son, family, band, school and community are blessed beyond measure by his presence in our lives! We love John Nutt and are thankful to Ms. Dykman for nominating him! There is no one more deserving to be Life Changer of the Year!
Mr. Nutt makes a huge impact in our children’s lives because music is his passion and is a teacher for all of the right reasons!!
Mr. Nutt is the best. I was in the drill team during his first years. Although, I was not a member of the band, he makes me wish that I had been. He was fun to interact with and displayed excellent leadership qualities. I still remember him talking about teaching himself to sing while driving a truck. He makes a lasting impact on his students and truly deserves this award.
Mr. Nutt is the best band director. He takes time to connect with his students and staff. And makes every one of his students feel welcome in the band hall.
There are so many good things I can say about John Nutt. I was a senior when he first came to crandall 13 years ago as our new band director. He always had a smile on his face every time I walked into the band hall. He knew my love for singing even though I was very shy about it. He always had encouraging words and taught me how to face my fears and get up there and sing my heart out. I became the lead female vocalist of the rock band that year. He believed in me, even when I didn't believe in myself. I have since got to come back and do things with the band after graduating and he even performed my wedding ceremony 6 years ago. He is not only a great teacher/ band director, he is a great role model. He would do anything to make sure your dreams in music came true. I couldn't think of a better person for this award. He is the true definition of a life changer. I am proud to call him my friend.
Awesome teacher, director, musician, friend!
My two children grew up in Crandall ISD and became students of Mr. Nutt’s in the 6th grade. He has known them since they were 12, and has been such a positive influence on their lives. And mine as wel - I became involved in the Band Boosters when my oldest went to high school and joined the marching band. Because of the love and support that Mr. Nutt shows not only to his students but to this community and everyone he meets (including those obnoxious band parents) - I have stayed involved in the Boosters since my boys graduated three years ago. And the connection that I developed with the community as a result has led me into many volunteer positions within Crandall ISD. It was through Mr. Nutt’s influence that I really developed such a love of community - his enthusiasm and passion is contagious.
When my youngest was a senior, he went through some very difficult times, dealing with depression and bullying. Mr. Nutt took him under his wing and helped him though those dark times, just by listening and being a solid pillar of support that my son knew he could count on. I truly believe that because of the support that Mr. Nutt showed to him - because he actually did care and let my son know that - we still have him with us today.
He is a inspiring band director, and he has helped the band a lot. Without him, our band would not be this good. I am very happy he came to Crandall and made us better.
Mr. Nutt has taught 3 of my 4 children in band. Two of my boys have graduated, one is currently a sophomore learning from Mr Nutt and a fourth grader who is ready to be in the band and learn from Mr. Nutt. He has taught them many valuable lessons from why it is important to be on time to discipline in everything they do. Mr. Nutt cares so much about his students. I have seen him perform my sons marriage and perform at a memorial service for one of his past students.
In simple terms Mr. Nutt ROCKS!!
Mr. Nutt is always pushing me to work harder and do my best. He makes music interesting makes me want to explore more of the world around me.
Mr. Nutt is one of the greatest people I know. He's an amazing director. I highly doubt he knows my name but he has still made a difference. Band is the only place that I feel I belong and he makes all that possible
Mr. Nutt is an amazing person. He inspires all of his band students to do their best everyday. My two children are in band and I have one more who cant wait to join next year! My girls cant wait to go to school everyday simply because of Mr. Nutt. He builds great relationships with all students and though he makes them work hard each day he also makes it fun. John definitely deserves this!
He has been and continues to be a positive influence for my grandchildren.
Well deserved--so glad he is able to influence another generations of students to go and do and be more.
All the best...
I started band in the 6th grade at Crandall. Mr. Nutt has always been a supportive mentor. He pushes you to be the very best and won’t settle for putting in 50% effort. It’s people like this who build some of the best and brightest in the community.
Mr. Nutt has been "instrumental" in my child's life...helping him to become a better musician and a better person! Mr. Nutt has a positive disposition and is incredibly talented! I am thrilled that he is the Band Director for our schools, and cannot wait for my daughter to enter Jr. High and be a part of the band... just so she can be influenced by Mr. Nutt, as well!
Here to support you as you support us students. Go nutt!
Mr. Nutt is an all around wonderful teacher. My daughter has always been intrigued by music. He helped take this shy, timid 6th grader into a freshman who has so much passion and love for music. Her devotion to music is very profound. Mr. Nutt has even inspired my 7 year old to join the UIL music team in hopes to learn more about music and eventually join band once it's his turn. Mr. Nutt has truly been an inspiration in our kids' life.
Mr. Nutt has shared his passion for music with my three children for several years. He has been an inspiration to not only my kiddos but to countless others. I know of several Crandall high school graduates that have gone to college to pursue a career in music because they have seen the impact it has had on Mr. Nutt and they want the same passion in their lives and to share it with others. Music is the window we look through to catch a glimpse of our souls.
Me. Nutt is an amazing teacher and person. My daughter transferred to Crandall from Mesquite half way through her sophomore year. Knowing she had played only the viola since 6th grade, Mr. Nutt took a chance and placed a tenor sax in my daughters hand; she went to State her Junior and Senior years bringing home gold and silver respectively. Mr. Nutt not only has a band program, he has grown a family of the most accepting and amazing children. My daughter was made to feel as part of his family from day one. He has even inspired my daughter to work towards a teaching degree herself and has now even decided to be a music teacher because of her experience in the CHS band. Each child that participates in any of the band programs in Crandall is immediately one of Mr. Nutt’s children, he watches over, cares for, and guides each of them as such. I’ve thanked him many times for having such a positive and inspiring role in my daughters life.
Mr. Nutt has influenced our son in so many positive ways. We are so happy that he is a part of his and our lives and I cant think of anyone more deserving.
Mr.Nutt gave me a chance to be part of his Pirate Regiment when I had some family problems and moved to Crandall. Without him I would have never made the amazing friends I consider a family today and I would have never found my true reason to keep living while I was fighting my battle with depression. I love this man as if he was my own father and I am glad he made such a huge impact on my life as well as others.
I have to say that Mr. Nutt truly is a blessing to these children. My sister has been in his band program for six years now and has loved every minute of it. The band is a second family to her that grows every year and Mr. Nutt ensures it stays that way. My sister has never connected with a group of kids so closely before and there is no other band like our band. With many supporters and great leaders Mr. Nutt really strives to make the band at Crandall something special. He is a wonderful person and someone our kids can really look up to and count on.
Mr. Nutt and the band changed my son for the better. He took a year off and was antisocial. Getting back in the band gave him a purpose and he loved it. He misses it now that he is out of school
