Diane Mrkvicka was nominated by an anonymous colleague.
Mrs. Mrkvicka is retiring at the end of this school year after a 41-year career. She has completely dedicated her passions and energy to the students and staff of the School District of Wild Rose. She started working in the district's Business Department while in High School. Shortly after graduation, she was called back by the district administrator at the time to serve the district. She has made an incredible impact on her district, and the work she has done has been outstanding.
Mrs. Mrkvicka has been instrumental in navigating the budgeting and finance operations of the district. She has been an administrative team member who has created a very solid foundation for school finances. Under her direction, the School District of Wild Rose has grown to have a solid fund balance and has completed every audit with great success.
Mrs. Mrkvicka has built a culture within the business department that promotes collaboration with all team members. She has an extreme dedication to assisting all staff members, and she jumps in to make sure all areas of the department are performing at high levels. She is quick to share ideas and build on the foundation she has been so instrumental in creating.
Mrs. Mrkvicka is not only responsible for the school business operations, but also takes on additional responsibilities due to the district's small size and limited personnel. Being in a small school district, she appreciates that all staff must wear these additional hats and take on new job functions. She has led the technology department and has been a difference-maker with the district's student information system. She event went as far as working with the system's vendor itself to improve their products and services.
Mrs. Mrkvicka also jumped right in to assist and lead in the creation of her school district's Scholarship Foundation, for which she currently serves as the treasurer. With her desire to increase opportunities for students, this foundation has grown tremendously over the years. The district, which has just under 600 students, is able to award them with just over $100,000 from local scholarships. This is something that much larger districts would be proud to embrace.

It was my pleasure to work with Diane while serving on the Skyward Steering Committee. Diane is a team player who was instrumental in making enhancements to the Skyward software program and improving it for all users. She is very knowledgeable, professional, and always eager to assist others. She is a dedicated person who is very loyal and passionate in everything she does. It has been my privilege to work with Diane as her assistant for the past 21 years. Her dedication to the School District of Wild Rose is second to none. She has a great connection to our School District beginning as a student and then as an integral part of the administration. Her knowledge of School District history is amazing and she is often called upon to recall what's been done in the past. She is always willing to patiently answer questions and help with issues. No matter what the challenge, she digs in and works to solve the issue to resolution. Diane has made a difference in my life and certainly in the lives of our staff and students who depend on her for help and support. It will be difficult to watch Diane retire and leave, but she has definitely earned some downtime. I will miss her. Congratulations on a job well done and best wishes.
I have had the pleasure to work with Diane for school nursing funding and financing. She has always been very professional, diligent and organized in everything she does. She will be greatly missed at the Wild Rose School District I am sure.
In the more than 28 years that I have worked with Diane, she has always exemplified true professionalism. She possesses a great spirit of cooperation; and even through personal challenges, she was always mindful of the importance of her position and duties in keeping the School District of Wild Rose running smoothly. She has been an incredible advocate for the school district and its students, and she will be greatly missed in her well-deserved retirement.
I have known Diane for many, many years through our involvement using Skyward software and being members of the Wisconsin Software and Service User Group. After I retired in 2003 as Dir of Finance for my school district, we kept up our friendship and have shared many a conversation on the amount of workload that goes into being a business official for a school district whether large or small. She certainly has been an asset to the Wild Rise School District and will be missed by many when she retires.
Over the last few years, I have worked intermittently with Diane regarding the administration of Wild Rose School District’s child nutrition programming. She is an amazingly quick study. The few questions she has asked over the years have demonstrated an integral understanding of the programs along with both a desire to make sure that the programs are run by-the-books and a desire to ensure that the students are served as best possible. Diane is not only competent, but she is also one of the nicest, most thoughtful people I have had the pleasure to work with. My only complaint is that she is pursuing her well-deserved retirement and I will miss her ever-pleasant correspondence.
Congratulations! I met Diane when our school district joined Skyward's family in 2002, which was also the beginning of a wonderful friendship. We enjoyed many hours working together on the Steering Committee to create best learning opportunity for everyone at the conference. Best wishes on your retirement!
I was new to Wisconsin when I took my current position. Diane was instrumental in helping me navigate through "getting my sea legs" in WI School Business Management. After 41 years in the Business, Diane knew so much about everything and was always willing to give me a suggestion or answer to questions that came up. Though I didn't see her often, she was always friendly when I did and we kept a pretty regular email exchange whenever something came up. I am truly going to miss Diane, but believe she is the perfect candidate for this award,
She is going to be leaving big shoes to fill in Wild Rose and in WI School Business. And I will miss herl.

I've really enjoyed working with Diane over the past 8 years. She has been a regular at our CESA 5 business office networking meetings and is very willing to share with the group. I'm thankful for her contributions to the profession of school business management. Our district is very fortunate to have Diane. I have worked with Diane for twenty-one years. She is a very diligent worker who goes out of her way to assist people wherever she can. I have worked with Diane over the years that she has been with the school district. She has always been helpful with any task that needed attention. She has become a friend, not just a business contact. We have had many personal conversations over the years and she has a big heart and a willingness to go above and beyond to accomplish whatever is being asked of her! I will miss working with her but know that she will enjoy the next chapter of her life.
Diane has been a leader in education for over 40 years, and a dear friend to the Skyward Inc. family as not only a customer in the Wild Rose School district, but also a Steering Committee member. Her efforts have helped shape the lives of children throughout Central Wisconsin, and her work with educators will continue to help build the foundation for positive change, for years to come.

It has been an honor and pleasure to work with Diane on the Wisconsin Skyward User Group Steering Committee since 2012. She was instrumental in the initial forming of this Wisconsin User Group to provide a form for Skyward software customers to become better educated users and to make suggestions for enhancing the software.
