Natalie Rios was nominated by her colleague, Sandra Garcia.
One cannot think about Pyburn Elementary without knowing about Mrs. Rios. She is an amazing school secretary who goes above and beyond, every day. She is the first one to arrive on campus, and is the lovely voice others hear when they call the school. Mrs. Rios is the most generous, caring person you will ever encounter, and Pyburn Elementary School is lucky to have her.
"Being in the front office is not an easy task, but I could not find a better person that can display customer service on the ultimate level," Garcia said. "If you ask any parent who comes to the front office about Mrs. Rios, they'll have nothing but positive things to say."
Mrs. Rios plans all school celebrations and doesn't forget any staff birthdays. She makes everyone feel special by decorating classroom doors and sending sweet notes to tell others how much they mean to her. She is courteous and generous when anyone is in need. Mrs. Rios goes above and beyond in helping the community and is always available when you need her.
"I know that I can always counts on Mrs. Rios for anything that I may need, and she is always available to assist staff when a parent needs a translator," Garcia said. "I can also say that her emails about collections, coffee, and any campus information are a delight to read because her words are so expressive."
The atmosphere of the campus is set when people walk into the school and meet Mrs. Rios.
"I can not nominate a more deserving person than Mrs. Natalie Rios," Garcia said. "I have the privilege of not only calling her my co- worker, but more importantly, my friend."
Natalie's nomination expresses a few of her talents, work ethics, and disposition to assist anyone. Thanks God this world still has people like Natalie.
They say the first impression is what matters. Mrs Rios is the first person you see when you enter our school. She definitely makes you feel very welcome no matter if you are a student, staff, parent, or administrator. She treats everyone with the same pleasurable personality and warmth. She has been a vital part of helping me settle in to my new home here at a Pyburn this year. I am thankful to work alongside her and I know she is more deserving of this award than anyone.

Out of the few times that I've visited Pyburn Elementary, I have always been greeted with a smile and felt welcomed. I've seen where the office has been full of parents, and she still has everything under control.
Mrs. Rios is by far one of the best aides at Pyburn that I ever had. She helped me over come many fears that I had growing up as a child. She helped my peers and me understand so many stuff in our science and reading class. Now that I attend Pyburn as a volunteer she always greets me with a smile and makes me feel welcomed.

The very first time I met Mrs. Rios she made a big impression on me. There were several parents and children crowding the front office; yet when she attended me I felt as if I was the only person in the room! Clearly Mrs. Rios loves her job and shows it! In the four years that I have known her, I have never seen her stressed or speak rude to anyone. Teachers, parents, vendors, district staff and a multitude of other people are all attended to with personal attention proving that Mrs. Rios excels as a multi-tasker. Mrs. Rios is an exceptional person. I've known her for 11 years when she first was a resource aide, and assisted my daughter in her studies at school. She was an awesome person around the children at school. My child personally benefited from her teaching as a resource aide. Now as the school Secretary she does an awesome job as well. Very attentive, knows every person that walks into the office by name. That is for me something very astonishing. She is an amazing person, with a very busy day ahead of her everyday. To me she is a very exceptional person, because she has everything under control for a person who doesn't have an assistant.

Mrs. Rios is the most qualified person to accept the Life Changer of the Year Award. She is hard-working, dedicated, organized, efficient, caring, and goal-oriented. I know this because she is mother and she has raised me to be the same way. It is because of her that I have been a successful student and excel in academics. It is because of how she raised me that I will be walking this December to receive a bachelor of science degree in Psychology. Mrs. Rios’s work ethic and care for others is something she has always carried with her. When I was elementary school, my mom went to every single field trip, play, handbell concert, choir concert, Christmas Party, book character day, etc. my mom was at every single event and she was an active member of my school’s PTA and volunteer group. Even before stepping foot into Pyburn Elementary, my mother had this genuine investment and care for children’s education. She has a strong commitment to the education system here at GPISD. She brought this genuine motivation for success with her to Pyburn Elementary. I am proud that she is my mother. Not only did I have the honor to be raised by her, but now she is able to provide her support and strength to other children, as she did for me and my classmates growing up.
