Position: Special Education Teacher
School: Flint Hill Elementary School
School District: Newton County School System
City, State: Oxford, GA
Sharon Darley was nominated by Cheryl White, a local teacher who took Darley's training course.
Mrs. Darley has made a huge impact on White. Mrs. Darley has been working with Newton County School System to hold Autism training classes for teachers throughout the county. She was able to convince several schools to invest in the training program. The only problem was that there was a limit to the number of people who could take the class. White was fortunate to be one of those people.
For White, the class took place once a month. The classes were very informational. Mrs. Darley covered a lot of information over a short period of time, and overall, was very helpful to White. Since Newton County has some children in the regular classrooms that are on the autism sprectrum, White feels it is very necessary that Mrs. Darley's class be a mandatory class for those that are involved with children on the spectrum. It will help the teachers, paraprofessionals, and the children themselves.
Darley has over 25 years of training in the spectrum of autism. She also does private training for parents and families. She is highly recommened by her students, who brag about her teaching and training.
"If i had to choose someone to train me to a higher level, I will defiantly choose Sharon Darley!" White said.
