Natalie Alexander was nominated by an anonymous parent of a student.
"Mrs. Alexander has sparked curiosity, imagination, and love in her third grade students. She is calm, reassuring, and prepared in the worst of times during this pandemic," said the nominator. "I have a kid who struggled to connect with teachers in regular times. I believe that a LifeChanger is someone who makes the most irregular, uncertain times a haven of peace. This is what Mrs. Alexander did with my kid and her class. She set the example by showing care, emotion, and wonder, and her students are following suit. She has made this instruction on campus, quarantine, remote learning, and more a moment of connection, community, resilience, humor, and love. I have never seen someone so prepared for whatever is thrown at her, someone so peaceful and loving."
"Furthermore, her curiosity ignites her student's imagination," said the nominator. "Science is skyrocketing in all our households thanks to Mrs. Alexander. Students are analyzing birthstones, marveling at clay and mica, investigating northern lights, keeping moon diaries, and more. She is talking about citizenry and first responders and motivating her students to recognize and value the people around them, especially in these times when they find themselves so lonely and alone. She is impacting us and many more families. Furthermore, she is impacting her students, who will cherish her and remember how she stood still and loving, sparking a love for knowledge when everything seemed to fall down. For her wisdom and passion, Mrs, Alexander is, and will continue to be, a LifeChanger."
Mrs. Alexander was one of my daughters’ favorite teachers. Her 3rd grade classroom marked a significant change in treating kids as older children, expecting more maturity and effort from them. Because she has such high standards, the students rose to her expectations. She has constant enthusiasm and excitement and it is clear how much she loves and understands her students. We were blessed to have her and know she deserves this accolade. Congratulations!
During a year when you do not know what to expect and everyday has new challenges Mrs. Alexander has her students thriving. She is steady and patient and we know we are blessed that our son has her for his teacher. My child would like the committee to know that Mrs. Alexander makes learning fun even when it’s on Zoom!
We were fortunate enough to have Natalie at the helm when the pandemic hit, and she didn't miss a beat. We were all figuring it out as we went along, but she immediately began moving in a new direction. She showed the kids (and, quite frankly, the adults) that nothing would stop us. She demonstrated resilience and perseverance in ways that we could see in everyday life. Classes went on. Communication kept coming. She encouraged the kids to keep up with projects they began in school. She called every family from her class the first few weeks the kids were out of school. Not to discuss schoolwork per se, but simply to check in, see how we were ALL doing, see if there was anything she could do. That she took the time to personally reach out to us, when she had young kids at home, a job to do, and all the stresses, worries, uncertainty and fear that we all felt, was absolutely unexpected, indescribably kind, and exemplifies the incredible commitment Natalie has to giving her best to everything. And as the weeks went on, Natalie continued the learning in every and any way she could think of. She continually offered resources as she discovered them. She created a grid for the students to access optional activities, some academic, some more fun like taking a virtual tour of a national park or creating a craft out of items found in nature. She worked through challenges with her trademark determination and grace, and inspired our kids (and their families) not only to keep learning but also to stay positive, find gratitude, and take care of each other. It's too hard to describe the incredible impact Natalie has on her students and her community, but Life Changer is an excellent way to start.

Our family feels very fortunate that Natalie is our daughter's girl scout troop leader. She has a remarkable knack at making each girl of our very large troop feel special, smart, and valued. Her ability to adapt to our everchanging learning environment is amazing and she somehow manages to help us through these difficult circumstances with patience and always with a smile on her face. It is evident that she, herself, loves to learn about all kinds of different topics, and in turn, her curiosity inspires our children's curiosity and creativity.
We feel very blessed to have Mrs. Alexander in our lives:)

Natalie is a wonderful human being who has been a blessing in our lives! She truly exemplifies what a teacher should be and we are so grateful for her!!
So happy to hear this!! My daughter Natalie is in Mrs. Alexander's class. We are blessed to have such caring teacher. Natalie has been going through some learning issues and Mrs. Alexander has been more than supportive the entire way. Mrs. Alexander takes her time with Natalie when she has additional questions and includes her in all activities even though Natalie may struggle with the subject. She stays online after class with her as well to reassure her and praise her. We are beyond lucky to have such an excellent teacher.
A truly dedicated teacher, mother and friend. She inspires her students and goes above and beyond for them! Go Natalie!
I’ve been privileged to substitute for Natalie and to observe her teaching first hand as a support person in her classroom. It is obvious within several minutes observing Natalie teach that she is doing what she was born to do. Natalie’s classroom is organized without being sterile, and her teaching style is “learning sprinkled with fun.”
I found myself doing a long term substitute job for one of Natalie’s team several years ago and frankly I was in over my head. Natalie, without being asked, stepped in and saved the day by giving me her time, which she had little of, and her patience and knowledge which she had an abundance of. This is indicative of the type of teacher and person Natalie is. She changes lives of students and colleagues alike. She is absolutely deserving of this recognition.
Congrats Natalie! So well deserved! Not only are you one of the finest teachers I've ever worked with, but you are one of the finest (and one of my favorite) people I've known! Your students are so lucky. So happy for you and proud of you!
