Ms. Morey is the first person to introduce themselves when newcomers join Union Park Middle School. She has a quiet confidence that makes those around her feel welcome and part of her "Econ family." She is well-organized and keeps all staff up to date with deadlines and other matters. Ms. Morey gives gentle reminders and firm phone calls when things need to be done. She organizes her school's honor roll nights with the guidance department and makes sure each student gets their piece of cake after the ceremony. It is her way of making them feel special.
During Teacher Appreciation Week, she works tirelessly each day to create individual recognitions for staff. At the beginning of this year, she made goodie bags for each bus driver and bus monitor for the first day of school. Ms. Morey wants everyone to be included!
Marilyn is the real deal - her organization is matched by her compassion for those she serves. She is not only highly skilled, but a kind and generous person. During my years at UPMS she was willing to make time for my questions and worked to solve problems. Her smile and eagerness to support the UPMS community shines through in all her interactions with all who come to her door.

I had the privilege of meeting Marilyn Morey over six years ago when I became her brother-in-law. She is so amazing! She made me feel so welcomed into the family and is always uplifting and wears a smile. When we visit, she is a gracious host with having food prepared and waiting up for us no matter what time it is when we come in from Illinois. She greets you at the door with open arms and makes one feel so comfortable. I get a kick out of her because she has candy dishes on her table, or even better yet the most delicious homemade fudge in four different flavors that I have ever, and I mean ever tasted. Do we need it? Oh no, but we enjoy every bite. Her son tells her that she should open a candy store, but then what would Union Park School do without her? I know how respectful and kind her heart is because she has always shown that to me and my wife. Marilyn is a very hard worker at home , mowing grass, painting her home, maintaining her yard, so I know she is a hard and dedicated worker at school. She is a loving and dedicated mom to her son and dearly loves her family. She is always there, just a phone call away. She is unselfish, meticulous and when she puts her mind to something she will give it her all(much like her sister). She is a Life Changer and I would say nominate Marilyn Morey because she is a Special kind of person and you don't meet them every day.

Where do I begin? I met this adorable little gal on April 16 a few years ago, just a few. I am Carolyn, the oldest sister, and am so glad God sent Marilyn to share my life with. At first I wasn't too sure what role I would play because I was almost 4 years old and that was new territory for me. She was so beautiful and tiny and I loved cuddling her and always helping our mom with anything that she needed. Later on down the road we were blessed with three more precious little Morey's. We had wonderful, hard working parents who taught us good morals, values, work ethic, manners, how to love, give, to be honest, and always be helpful no matter what the situation. Marilyn has grown into one of the most amazing women I have ever had the privilege of knowing. She was so quiet and still is, but if you need someone on your team select her. Her smile is contagious, she is such a hard worker and is dedicated to everything she is a part of. She does wear many hats at Union Park and every job given her will be to the best of her ability, whether she is dealing with irate parents or just dropping by to say hi to one of the special needs classroom. Our parents always stressed to us no matter what job is given to you, give it your best, I share all of these personal things with you because she is all of the above: loving, caring, dedicated, efficient, etc. If you ever needed a HERO, Marilyn is My Hero. She is a REAL person, with a Sweet Spirit who always gives and sacrifices so many things to this very day. Yes, I would ask that you nominate Marilyn Morey as Life Changer of the Year. Why? When you meet her you will see for yourself she is a Life Changer and so much more. You will never forget her. I Love her with all my heart, because she gave me hers the first day I saw her smile. I had the privilege to work with Marilyn for more than 8 years and she is the most organized and efficient colleague I have ever worked with. She ALWAYS has a positive attitude and treats everyone with respect and kindness. Marilyn is the heart of Union Park Middle School and is loved by students and staff.
Ms. Morey is an incredibly dedicated professional. Her ability to always treat students, parents, and staff with such respect and make them all feel special is a unique gift. She is truly the go to person of the school for anything. I have personally witnessed her take the most upset parent and have them calm by making them feel valued and that their concerns are being addressed. She gives of her own time to help organize and attend school events. She was instrumental in organizing our Gradventure, selling food at concession stands, taking tickets at games, and helping parents at open house. She is a true “Econ”!
In addition, her knowledge of the Orange County Policies and Procedures, leadership’s expectations, and a deep love for Union Park Middle are what allows her to handle a variety of situations. What sets her apart is her capability to problem solve and if she doesn’t know the answer, she will find out and get back to the person. Her ability to develop relationship and be such a respected and dedicated member of the Union Park Family speaks to her personal integrity.
Ms. Morey wears many hats, including one that reads “Staff Counselor”. She has acquired this over the years because of her ability and willingness to help members of both instructional and non-instructional staff, due to her empathic nature. This special lady is like a one-stop shop for answering our questions and solving our problems. “Check with Ms. Morey,” continues to be a popular buzzword at UPMS. We are grateful and blessed to have her on staff. She makes a difference not only by greeting us all with a cheerful smile each day, but also by touching our lives in a very special way. I can truly say that I have personally chosen Ms. Morey to be one of my role-models in life because I love her giving and caring nature!
Ms. Morey is an excellent person and very kind human being. She is one of these people you really want to see in the morning to start your day very shiny. She is always polite and with a smile in her face. I believe she deserves this nomination and recognition to honor her hard work and kindness at Union Park Middle for several years. Ms. Morey is the heart and soul of our school. She was the first person I met when I arrived to the Union Park Middle. She is the kindest person and is always thinking of others. She will always go out of her way to assist anyone in any way. I don’t know what we would do without her! She does so much for all the staff at the school. And I appreciate her very much!
Ms. Marilyn Morey is a real special person and a very hard worker . I am a fairly new member to the Union Park Middle School Team. She made me feel so welcome even when I came for my first interview here. She is more than a coworker she is truly a friend. If you have any questions she is always right there with the answers. If she doesn't know the answer she will work with you by your side until the answer is found. Ms Morey continuously goes above and beyond her normal work duties. Sometimes I don't know how she does it, from phone calls, people walking in, emergencies, running errands, helping the front office,etc she always manages to stay right on task.She puts everybody else before herself. We all love to hear Ms. Morey's pleasant voice in the mornings on the intercom as we all start our day. Keep up the great work Ms. Morey. We love you!
Ms. Morey is the very definition of a life-changer. She makes strangers feel welcome, puts students and staff at ease, and works tirelessly to ensure that things are running smoothly here at Union Park Middle. She never hesitates to offer assistance, even if she is in the middle of a task herself. She makes sure that deadlines are met and procedures are followed. Marilyn Morey is my sister-in-law and she welcomed me into the family 30 years ago. She even let us live with her until we got settled and helped me get a job. I have never met a more patient and genuine person in my life. Marilyn thinks of others before herself and would do without in order to provide for someone else. She is very deserving of the "Life Changing Award." Marilyn is the kindest person I have ever met. We need more people in the world like her. Is she human or an angel dropped from heaven?
I cannot say enough about Marilyn Morey. As an itinerant speech therapist, Marilyn has always made me feel a part of the school. She never acts too busy to answer a question, help with a problem or offer a smile and pleasant greeting. As school secretary, she has regular duties along with additional tasks-she does them all efficiently and with a smile. Marilyn’s positive demeanor and solid work ethic should be admired by everyone who has the pleasure to meet her.
Marilyn Morey is an asset to our Econ Family. She is constantly going out of her way to help our students and staff. The entire school benefits from her hard work and dedication, but as an administrator, I can say confidently that we would be lost without her. Not only does she fill the requirements of being an outstanding school secretary, but she is constantly helping us with community and family opportunities. Ms. Morey is more than a face or a smile in the front office. She is always willing to help, and her help always comes quickly. Whether it's an inquiry about procedures, assistance setting up for school functions, or trying to find the right person in the district to talk to, Ms. Morey is an incalculable asset to our school community. Beyond this, her demeanor is ever kind and her words perpetually genuine. I could not imagine our school without her being a part of the family.
Ms. Morey is who I first met as a newcomer this year and immediately I felt at ease and I knew I had just met a new friend. She reminded me of my aunt Jackie from Texas. Aunt Jackie is considered everyone’s aunt.
Ms. Morey is the heart of our school. She does her job so well and effortlessly. From getting new teachers settled and ready to teach to helping those of us who come to her with all of our questions and tasks, Marilyn handles it all with such kindness and professionalism. As the school secretary, Ms. Morey goes out of her way to truly serve the students and staff at our school. She works long hours and is always thinking of the million little things that make our school run smoothly. Marilyn is often the unsung hero and she deserves this recognition. Marilyn makes the lives of our staff and students better every day.

As a newcomer to Union Park Middle, I really felt instantly part of the family; from welcome signs on my classroom door, goodies bags for the class initiation, the meet and greet activity, to "It's a Friday Thing" activity you will see Ms. Morey present serving, talking to fellow colleagues, or just a simple hello and a smile makes a real impact to our community.
Based and the situation of Hurricane Maria, my family was affected. When Ms. Morey new about this she was constantly in contact with me for any updates. That really means a lot to me. Congratulations Ms. Morey!
Marilyn Morey is a lifechanger! I have been fortunate to have known her for years. I have witnessed her handling the "tough" situations that arise as a school secretary with style and grace. In our Union Park Middle School family she is like the responsible big sister that guides and assists all of us.
The year I started at Union Park Middle School, I was fresh out of college. I was very confused, and a little nervous about being in a new county and being a first year teacher. Ms. Morey helped me every step of the way. She went out of her way to make sure I had everything ready to begin teaching, and talked me through the entire process prior to the school year actually starting. During my first year she saw me through the entire year. She always checks on me, and still helps me with any problem I have, big or small. She is always so cheerful and has such a sweet presence about her that makes you feel immediately comfortable to be around her. I especially love her kindness to my class. I teach a self-contained class for students with intellectual disabilities, and severe cognitive disabilities, and she goes out of her way to include them. She speaks to my students whenever she sees them, brings them treats to our building, and comes to all of our functions we do as a unit. The students in our building love it every time she comes back here. I really feel like she played a major role in making my first year as a teacher a success, and she plays a vital role as a visitor to my classroom.
I don’t know what we would do without Ms. Morey! She is always ready to help with any task and does it with a smile. She is an absolute pleasure to work with!!!
Dr. May provided the perfect description of Marilyn Morey. As a recent hire, I can attest that Marilyn was the first person to contact me reference my new teacher orientation, drug testing, etc. She is always positive, upbeat and as Dr. May described a quiet confidence. She welcomed me to my new school and has gone out of her way to accommodate any request I may have.
Marilyn is someone you would like to know personally. Having only worked with her for just over a month, she is a very warm person and she makes everyone feel warm and welcomed. I truly admire the work she does and look forward to working with her this school year.
