Shannon Stolle was nominated by her colleague, Jennifer Hibbard.
"I have been fortunate in my career to have been selected as Teacher of the Year in two different school districts in the state of Michigan. I only mention this because I have high standards for myself and tend to seek out individuals with the same dedication and work ethic," said Hibbard. "Shannon Stolle stood out to me the moment I met her in a district grade level meeting! She has a welcoming personality, a strong sense of confidence, and an extremely approachable demeanor. It is my hope that Shannon is recognized for her countless hours of dedication to our profession and for her willingness to help educators all around her. She is deserving, not only for the impact she has made with her students, but for the impact she has made in our district of over 400 teachers."
"I have had the pleasure to get to know Mrs. Stolle during our professional development district meetings. Shannon was one of the lead teachers to participate in the pilot for our newly adopted ELA program," said Hibbard. "She has spent countless hours organizing and sharing her resources, which made the implementation of this overwhelming program seem a little less daunting. Shannon also wears many hats at Hutchings Elementary. She is the School Improvement and Technology Chair. She is recognized for her ability to work with her school's special education population, especially with differentiating instruction."
"I’ve also been fortunate enough to get to know Mrs. Stolle through the eyes of my grandson," said Hibbard. "Mrs. Stolle was one of his fifth grade teachers two years ago. My grandson thrived in her room and found a renewed interest for reading expository text. I will be forever grateful for the commitment Shannon has for her students."
"Shannon has been a LifeChanger more than ever during this school year," said Hibbard. "Shannon was one of the first teachers who had to quarantine with her students and go into a remote teaching situation. She took time to set up protocols that our district has now shared with all of us. Shannon helped set up countless Bitmoji classrooms and assisted teachers with our new Schoology platform. This was no small feat! Please understand that her offerings come with no compensation other than the teacher's personal appreciation. She is selfless with her time and energy as she has helped elementary teachers across our district prepare to go remote with their students. Shannon creates videos to support me and others when words alone do not do the job."
"Shannon handles all that is put in front of her with grace and acceptance," said Hibbard. "She answers questions on the weekends and updates our accounts when we get stuck on all the steps. Shannon is fabulous! She is a LifeChanger! I have taught in the field of education for over 28 years and have a Master’s degree, but I was not prepared for this remote learning experience. Shannon’s commitment to the students and teachers in our district is unprecedented."
I cannot agree with this more! Mrs. Stolle first year teaching at Hutchings elementary she had my son in her class. At the time my son didn’t have a great attitude about school. I honestly believe Mrs Stolle getting the job right before his 5th grade year starting was an amazing blessing. Since then my son has changed his outlook on school. Loves it. Currently carrying a 4.0 at Howell High School.
We as a family can’t thank her enough for changing our sons trajectory in education.
What a great person to have been nominated for this award! I have been blessed to work alongside Shannon for 5 years now. During her time at our school she has become an instrumental part of our building. Consistently involving herself in school initiatives, like joining and then leading our school improvement team. Additionally, she is continually looking for ways to help her colleagues by creating teaching aides and sharing her knowledge of online educational platforms; something that's been especially helpful this year. Glad to hear this nomination has gone to a truly deserving person!
My daughter was very apprehensive about school with all the changes 2020 brought. Mrs. Stolle has been able to make her students feel comfortable and still make learning fun! She keeps the parents constantly informed and involved despite no volunteers allowed this year. What I am most grateful for though is the love of reading Mrs. Stolle has instilled in my child. She had encouraged new genres with such enthusiasm that my daughter eagerly dives into books she would have never chose on her own and my child has also set her reading goals much higher than ever! I think when Mrs.Stolle’s looks back on the year 2020 they won’t remember the chaos of the world, only the love, kindness and feeling of security she has provided. Thank you so much Mrs. Stolle!
As a veteran teacher of 27 years in another district, and having worked with literally hundreds of other teachers, I can attest that Mrs. Stolle is truly outstanding in her field and in her compassion for her students. My son is in her class and while they were on quarantine I was also working from home. I honestly dreaded the idea of going back to my pattern of last spring, when I was up half the night completing tasks for my own job because helping my children navigate remote learning took up most of my day. However, Mrs. Stolle magically (which, in education terms, means "through MANY hours of planning") made this transition practically seamless for both my son and myself. She had already taught her students how to use the Schoology, and everything online was laid out so clearly in her Bitmoji classroom that my son simply needed a quiet place to work. Mrs. Stolle is incredibly dedicated to her students and connects with them individually so that each student feels valued and recognized. Thank you!!
As both a special education teacher In another district and parent to three boys lucky enough to have Mrs. Stolle, I couldn’t support this nomination enough!! She has a warm heart for all she meets! This award couldn't go to a better person! She is a selfless hard worker that not only cares about her kids, but equally cares about her colleagues as well. I have the pleasure of working with her on a daily basis and she is always going above and beyond for our team and helping out in any way she can. She works tirelessly trying to figure out new things or on ways to make things easier...then is always willing to share what she has learned without expecting anything in return! There could not be a better nominee for this honor. Shannon is a true teacher in every sense of the word. She is constantly learning new things and improving herself. She shares her knowledge with everyone, regardless of how much time or patience it takes. She makes herself available for her colleagues as well as her students. Mrs. Stolle truly deserves this! She is willing to go that extra mile to make sure your child is doing ok. She connects with the kids and makes them feel important. Her love for her job shines through . She made a HUGE difference in my sons life. His confidence grew so much just from the one school year being in her class. Now my daughter is getting to know her I know it will be the same for her. She truly is a Life changer.
I would like to expand on Ms. Hibbard's statement. Personally I find her to be engaging and always helpful. I am most impressed with how she switched from in person to virtual with ease. My child was engaged and stayed on pace. This is no easy task. Everyone is learning how to work from home or school, she made it easy and fun.
We are very thankful she is the leader of our team this year.
