Ms. Ficklin is constantly learning new things to take back into her classroom. She always works over her contract hours because she is doing it for her students.
"I have never seen a teacher think, care for, and love their students as much as she does. Judy is always going above and beyond," said the nominator. "She has also held leadership positions at school, from being the lead teacher to heading up committee. She is involved with school-wide things weekly. Judy takes pride...and shows up for her students. She does not take her job lightly and is diligently becoming better for her students."
Judy is my best friend for the past 30 years. She had carried me and my kiddos through some pretty hard times. She is one of the strongest, faithful , caring people I know.

Mrs. Ficklin is an amazing teachers and colleague! She is very dedicated to her students and works extremely hard to make sure they are getting what they need to succeed. She is a genuinely caring person, who thinks of others. She puts in many extra hours learning new things to bring back to her classroom and school. I feel fortunate to be able to work and learn with her.
Judy has been the teacher for several of our grandchildren! We love her and appreciate her tender heart. One grandson struggled with school and her class organization, attention to detail and individual caring made all the difference in his education. Judy is the reason he’s successful in years later!
Kintsukuroi is the art of repairing pottery with gold or silver. Judy is the human embodiment of kintsukuroi. It is a magical moment when a she reaches into her heart of gold and gives of herself to a child who feels broken. As she does, she sets a foundation of what school is. Students learn that school is a place to be loved, to celebrate learning, and to be a respected, responsible part of the school community. She has high expectations for our students and for years beyond being in her class they are eager to share their successes with her. Judy's influence changes not only the lives of her students, but also the life of our school one gilded crack at a time.
Mrs. Ficklin is always going above and beyond her call of duty. It doesn't matter if it if for her students or for the staff members here at Perrine. She tries to make things fun for all involved. She is very creative and full of great ideas too. Mrs. Ficklin takes the time to visit with you too when she can. She is a joy to know and work with and I am so glad Perrine has her on their staff roster.
Judy is always happy and will drop everything to help when ever she can. She loves her students and ensures that they have the best education possible. She is always willing to listen. Judy you are amazing in every way!!
Judy goes above and beyond in her profession. She is always thinking of ways to improve the educational setting for her students and her colleagues. She is a teacher who genuinely loves her students and finds activities that are engaging and fun. It is not uncommon to hear singing and laughter coming from her room. She is a teacher every parent dreams of. It is a pleasure to have her on our staff.
This is my 2nd year to work with Judy. She is always happy, kind and loving toward her students. She gets down on their eye level to work with them when they need one on one help. She does many other things around school that she is either in charge of or helps with, I'm not sure if she ever says no. Everything seems to be so easy for her. She cares for her students and our school and it shows in her everyday work.
I have had the pleasure of working with Judy Ficklin for the last 5 years. She is an amazing colleague that truly cares for all the people with whom she interacts with. Her passion for teaching is above all else. My daughter was fortunate to have Judy as a teacher and excelled greatly. I truly believe this is because of the heart and dedication that Judy provides for all of her students. Judy treats all people, students and staff alike, with kindness and seeks win-win solutions. I am happy to call Judy Ficklin and colleague and friend.
My all time favorite teacher ever! Mrs Ficklin was the best I never had so much fun in school and learned so much at the same time.. She is so kind and caring of her students and really is the best teacher ever.I miss her so much and I was so lucky to have Mrs. Ficklin as a teacher!!

Mrs. Ficklin has been changing lives for the better for as long as I have known her, which is over 35 years. She embodies all the qualities of not just a good teacher, but a wonderful human being. If there is anyone I would want to emulate in my lifetime, she is definitely that person! She has a genuine love and empathy for others that is both inspiring and contagious. People, especially children, gravitate to her warmness. Her love of people and concern for their well-being translates to working so hard on behalf of her family, students, and community, and she honestly wants what is best for everyone. Her positive attitude brightens each day, and the impact she has had and continues to have on lives is real and bigger than she will ever know! We love Mrs. Ficklin!

First of all, she is the kindest human being on earth. In order to be a great teacher, or a leader in the school or any other business, you have to be kind first outside of school. So she is.

Ms Ficklin is an awesome and selfless woman. She has a big kind heart and is always willing to put her students first. Ms Ficklin loves teaching children and loves helping them learn. She is always willing to fight for her students and willing to go the extra mile for them.
I’ve had the opportunity to work in Judy Ficklin’s classroom and have personally seen the love she has for teaching. She shows kindness and patience for her kiddos everyday. She always seems to give each kid the attention they need to understand the lessons. Not only does she help her students, but the teachers around her too. Others, me included, go to her often to feel uplifted and have their burdens lightened. She is kind, happy, patient, compassionate, supportive, and knows exactly how to help others.
Ms. Ficklin is a fantastic teacher! She loves and cares for each of her students, especially those that may be deemed by others as more difficult. She sees every child as unique and works with them in individual ways to help them learn and grow. Ms. Ficklin is aware of every one of her students and fights for them every day, so they can have the best learning experience possible. I cannot day enough nice things about her!
As her daughter, I have witness the late hours spent at work, the amount of time researching and preparing lesson plans to meet the needs of her students, spending personal money to ensure the quality of education, and the love she has for being an educator. I have also witnessed the love she has for her students. This includes spending extra time to make sure they are given the opportunity to participate in extra resource classes to help them meet the requirements, meeting with parents, as well as meeting with resource teachers and aides. There have been nights where she has come home and cried because of some of her students’ circumstances. She loves her students. While working as a guest teacher for the district I would always hear from a parent or coworker what an amazing teacher she is. There is not anyone more deserving than her.
