Sarah Hubert was nominated by her colleague, Brittany Gores.

Mrs. Hubert is someone who instantly draws people in with her calm, empathetic, genuine nature. Her classroom is a such a warm, happy, welcoming environment where kids excel. She goes above and beyond for her students and puts their needs first.

"I've spoken to her students as a counselor, and they have nothing but amazing things to say about her as a teacher," said Gores. "They feel safe and cared for by her. Sarah collaborates with so many people here at the school to make sure her students get the best, whether it's lesson ideas, or how to help students in certain situations. Outside of school, she is a devoted mom and wife. She's also a foster mom who really takes the time to let the kids who come into her life know that they are loved and cared for."

I am so proud of my daughter, Sarah, and the heartfelt teacher she is. I have listened to her stories of her students over the years and her patience, understanding, wqrmth and compassion have shown through each time. I have very fond memories of a few teachers who made a big impact in my life and I know her students will remember the impact Sarah had on their lives long after they graduate.

Sarah is so deserving of this nomination, I am incredibly proud of her. As her husband, I see how truly and deeply she cares for every child in her class. Sarah genuinely cares for every child she interacts with at Lewis and Clark. Teaching the kids the curriculum is only part of what she does, she is also teaching by example to be kind, loving and empathetic. I am certain every child Sarah has had as a student is not only smarter, but also a better human being. Congratulations for this nomination, you are absolutely a LIFECHANGER to all you your students!

Sarah—you are a unique teacher who covers the lessons thoroughly and creatively, and you also concern yourself with each student’s emotional health. Communities need students who emerge from that combination of gaining knowledge and learning who they are and how to be in the world—that comes from learning caring. I’m glad you’re a teacher who shows you care so deeply. It’s a major commitment that’s entirely worth it. You deserve accolades!

Sarah, my mother, is a very kind hearted and caring person. She always puts others before herself and is the most unselfish person I know. I know first hand that she cares very deeply for her students and wants nothing but the best for them.
