"I've seen her make a huge impact on many other students, as well. She is such a special teacher. Highlander is so lucky to have her. I was lucky enough to have her as an advisor for my junior year. She showed us tough love and helped prepare us for our senior year. I know that if I ever need to someone to talk to, she will be there and give me the best advice she possibly can. Last year, she even helped me to save my relationship with my boyfriend of two years. I am so thankful that she is in my life."
Without sounding like too much of a mush, Mrs. DaSilva might be one of my most favorite people on the planet. She is, undoubtedly, one of the most genuine people I've met in my lifetime, in addition to my brief career as an educator. Mrs. DaSilva loves with her whole heart, and this shows in her teaching, her music, with her friends and family. She is someone I look up to, not only as a colleague but also as a role model and friend. Mrs. DaSilva inspires her students to find themselves through the study of music and by creating their own. I am grateful that she is someone our students can turn to, and I feel blessed that I can as well.
Christy is a very passionate person! She puts her whole heart and soul in whatever she is doing. This is what makes her an amazing person and a great teacher! Christy is an incredible colleague who built a very fledgeling music program here at Highlander into a thriving one. She is a role model, supporter, and fierce advocate for her students. She pushes them, and her colleagues, to give our best in everything that we do. She is an exceptional teacher, and a tremendously positive influence in the many lives she has impacted.
Ms. Dasilva always wants the best for her students. She has open arms for her students when they need someone to talk to. When I am with Ms. Dasilva I feel safe and comfortable because she is a kind and understanding person. She is always happy and passionate with her class. Seeing her happy makes my day better. The students and I are lucky to have Ms. Dasilva in our lives.
Christy may be a great teacher for Highland, but she's also a great teacher in the community. I have seen first-hand the way she takes women into her life and completely transform them, to the best person they can be. I view Christy as a motivating teacher with making learning and fun for her students. She does not disrespect anyone and try to see your point of view of you have a problem that's why I think she is my favorite teacher.

Mrs. Dasilva is honestly one of he best teachers that I have had so far in my high-school experience at highlander. She is very fun and energetic. She is always willing to help her students and make that they are doing to their best. She makes sure that all of her students be the best version of themselves, and not be ashamed about it. I’m just going to say thank you!, for being there when we needed you, for being so cool and kind with us!!. For believe in us. From this cute lady I haved learned so many things and one of them is to be strong!!! life is really hard and it always gonna came with bad things but we have to always find a way to not let those things drang us. I learned that we are humas, we are not perfect and yeah we can fell in things but something that we have to do is to get better and outgrow ourselves. She has a BEAUTIFULL VOICE and the amazin talent to play the piano. Not like everybody nahhh like Ms.Dasilva! I remeber that the first time i saw her playing the piano I got mesmerized for such of talent!!! ( I’m telling you she’s AMAZING!!). She has always been the kind of teacher that takes time to understand your problems and give you a Good advice when you need it! If I could go back time I would chose her to be my advisory teacher since 9th grade. I know I can’t do that but I have her on my senior year. I’m going to miss you A LOT!!!! I’ve known Mrs. Dasilva for the past two years and I adore her. She’s extremely understanding and helpful and always there when you need her. I love going to her class because she always tries to make it fun and interesting for us, she’s always positive and really helps her students with work and even with things outside of school. She’s truly like a mother figure to me and I couldn’t have been luckier to meet her. She really makes us think about different about our work when in her class and shows us how music helped part of our world grow. I really love music and have always used it as a way to clear my mind or help me work or just make my day better and learning about music itself was confusing but fun with her and she always gave a hand when needed. So yes she is a life changer because I think she makes her students days more positive and shares a wonderful connection with each of them and we’re always willing to go to her with any problems or even just for a talk. Knowing Ms.Dasilva, has been amazing, and definitely life changing.Not only does she love each of us, but she cares so much about our future, and so much more. she is amazing, and has changed so many of our lives. A great person to talk to, and a great person to motivate you!!! She has personally helped me to believe in myself more, and just got for it even if your scared of the outcome. During chorus last year, I believed I couldn’t sing, or I couldn’t do it because I was scared.She had faith in me though, so she made me sing it in front of everyone on the spot. I was so nervous, but I did it because she encouraged me too!! It turned out to be great, everyone loved it !!! She taught me so many things in the past few years of knowing her, and I love her for everything she does .
I met Christy at a Bike Life event in New York, a few years ago. She is a caring, good-hearted Mom, who treats her students, and friends, like they are all in her family! She is a role model for many! A woman who will stop what she is doing, to lend an ear, and give some level-headed advice!.Absolutely a Life Changer!

I've known Christy for the past 2 years and every time I see her involvement or discuss with her about life I'm amazed at how caring, thoughtful and understanding she is. As community co-member I see all the effort and work she performs in help of people in recovery and just overall community involvement. This has extended in my relationship with her as a friend. She's helped me in issues I've had through this troubling and challenging time, but also as a friend it's enabled to observe her in her role as a teacher and a performer in music. There's no other word but amazing. She was not happy about remote learning in the classroom. Not for herself, but the impact on her students. Being a technology person I jumped in to help. What I found is she had already figured methods to engage her students over a little zoom windows. Yeah... without my help. I was able help her with studio, but what I received out of it was even this older adult, learned from the techniques she discovered and applied.
An example is her visualization of music. She expanded her understanding by thinking of the music as it would be shown in a water medium. These frequency progressive waves (both water and sound) can be used to teach when the sharing the sound medium isn't always there. From my background in sonar, again was amazed and delighted at her discovery. Yes, Christy is a life changer as her students have reflected here, as a person, as a member and contributor in the community, and most important for me as an intelligent caring and thoughtful friend. Christy is my wife and my best friend. I have watched her give her hart and soul to her students. She is always advocating for them and helping them get through their personal struggles. She goes above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis. Her primary concern is making sure her students have what they need. She participates in a food drive so all of her students can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal and she does an independent toy drive to help foster kids for Christmas. In my eyes no one is more deserving of this award than her.
Mrs.DaSilva is a great teacher,she always puts her students before herself and she has the compassion and strength of a good teacher, she always motivates us to do better and she wants to see her students succeed, we need more teachers like her, through thick and thin she has always been thier for her students a good teacher is always thier for her students and she is a good teacher.
She is one of the chillest teachers you can talk to. She knows her music and she's a fun person to be around. Her hair is on fleek and she knows how to style, no cap! She's a good music teacher and I am very lucky to have her, she teaches me something new in class everyday.
Mrs. DaSilva is one of the best teacher I had met at Highlander. I been part of the highlander family quite some time. I always had a great conversation with her about my children. Mrs. DaSilva goes above and beyond for her students. My older daughter who just graduate from highlander help me out by doing a toy drive at the school. Mrs. DaSilva jump right in and help out. She is apart of a bike club to donate toys and a bike to my toys drive for youth that are in Foster Care. But the Amazing part was when she ask me if her Husband can play Santa Claus at our Christmas party. I was so thankful that she and her husband was willing to take their time and help out for our Christmas party. This is why she is being nominated. I can go on and on about Mrs. DaSilva. But I just want to say thank you for all your hard work you do with the children and the chorus concert you put together each year.

y'all should pick Ms.DaSilva because she is honestly one of the most chill and caring people that I have ever met. she cares for her students and supports them no matter what. whenever they have a problem she is the first one they go to from what i have seen. she listens to everything that you have to say and tries to give you the best advice possible. i'm honestly so glad that she came and substituted that day for a teacher that ended up leaving the school because obviously she ended up staying.
Christy really is a lifesaver! Even helping out her co-workers! I was having a hard time connecting with some of my students virtually. She and I shared a student and when I reached out to her seeking help to connect with this student she told me about a platform that I could use to message them directly on their computer screen. It has worked so well this year since I am only working virtually. I know it sounds like something so very small....but it really has made my life so much easier to be able to connect with my students! She does everything with such a high energy level it's awe inspiring! Christy is a positive force at Highlander and I congratulate her on a well deserved nomination!

Ms. DaSilva isn’t just a teacher to me. In my lowest place, she was able to reach me when I definitely didn’t think anyone could. The only person that can give me wake up calls while being completely reassuring. I love this woman to pieces because she is just phenomenal. I remember feeling so out of place in life, and she gave me a home with music. She gave me the courage to be outspoken and confident about my singing. As a teacher, Ms. DaSilva makes sure that all her students have a voice and can articulate it well. She is an advocate for those who can’t speak for themselves. In the past two years, I’ve known her, the impact that she’s had on my life so evident, and I’m proud to have met her. My favorite class I've ever taken, Music in Film, was a class where we watched movies and talked about the music. It was such an unstructured, go with the flow class, allowing it to be what it needed to be, that I don't think anyone had a complaint about it. Ms. DaSilva isn't the kind of teacher who snaps at you for no reason, even on a bad day. She's gives her all to the class and reprimands her students only when they're disturbing others. I feel like some teachers say "Oh, you can talk to me whenever there's anything going on and I'll let you take the class off." No, she's not that kind of teacher, she's never even said anything remotely close to that to the class. But her class radiates that warmth and homely feeling that you can talk and she will answer with an honest, well thought-out answer that's not some fluff on a silver spoon.Some classes you go into, you know exactly what you're going to do: the teacher is going to present, you'll work silently and independently, take a test, so on, so on. But Ms. DaSilva, being the freaking dope woman she is, takes a step back and asks, and listens about our lives and responds to them with a class that's not only fun in the moment, but glazed in a golden light when looked back on.
The energy, enthusiasm, and creativity that Christy brings to the music classroom is second to none. The number of comments left here by students is a testament to how much she is appreciated and revered. She goes out of her way to teach music in a way that makes it accessible and enjoyable for all of her students. Ms. DaSilva's willingness to adapt her classes and curriculum so that all students find them worthwhile is commendable. Ms. DaSilva is a wonderful teacher. She does her best at attending to every student need. She is a great person. Caring, loving, understanding. She has a cool sense about her we all seem to love. She's more of a friend to the students, but makes sure to enforce the school rules at the same time. I've known DaSilva for 2 years now, I was kind of bummed the first year because I didn't get to take her music course where we could make music in the studio she built at the school, but her interest in music just made us connect easier. She's a very dedicated individual, & in my opinion, deserves this award very much. I've seen her give students insight & them take the advice & run with it and do something amazing. Ms.Disilva has helped me in so many ways.She has supported me with every decision I have taken, she has brought me up when I was at my lowest and never gave up on me when I gave up on myself. Ms.DaSilva is more than a teacher to me. I don’t know how many times I’ve almost lost my mind, and she’s calmed me down. As a teacher, she makes sure that every student has a voice and can articulate it to the best of their abilities. Besides being a teacher, she’s a role model for her students, and she cares deeply about her job and her students. I remember how insecure I used to be about singing and putting my voice out there. Still, within just a couple of weeks with her, I was able to love music on another level. She is truly a phenomenal woman who deserves everything that the world has to offer and more. I love her so much. I am very thankful for all of the opportunities that she’s given me and all the times she stuck with me through everything.

Mrs.Dasivla is more than just a teacher to me. She’s like a second mom, a mentor, a friend, one of the most caring people you will ever meet. There have been times where I was down and she would pick me back up and tell me that everything is going to be okay. These past few years have been hard for me but she’s made life worth living and I can’t thank her enough for that. Without Mrs Dasilva I wouldn’t be alive nor be the person I am today. She’s my favorite teacher and without a doubt one of my favorite people on this earth. I feel like this wonderful woman doesn’t get the credit she deserves at our school but us students want her to know that we love and appreciate her. As someone who hates singing, she went out of her way to create an entire curriculum so that I could actively learn whilst not having to do something I’m uncomfortable with. For that I’m very thankful.
Ms. Dasilva is an amazing teacher/Guidance person. I can have be having the worse days and go see her and just have a little conversation about whats going on and she knows exactly what to say to leave a smile on my face. Shes is an amazing musician, shes inspirational, shes has a kind heart, shes amazing at her job.

I've had Ms.Dasilva as a teacher since my sophomore year, I am a senior now and no other teacher has supported me like Ms.Dasilva has. She has been my advisor since last year and she has prepared me for my senior year the best way she could. She has been a shoulder to cry on multiple times.
