Alfredo 'Mr. Freddy' Zires was nominated by his colleague and fellow LifeChanger of the Year nominee, Julie Ahern.
'Mr. Freddy' is a beloved school secretary. He greets everyone with a big smile and a 'How can I help you' when they enter his office, whether it be a student, a parent, or fellow staff member.
"We absolutely love his announcements over the school intercom, as they are infused with humor and good cheer. I know if I've had a hard day and need some cheering up, I head straight to the office to hear a joke or kind comment," Ahern said. "Time and time again, I have seen him wipe a frown off a sad student's face by greeting them by name or sharing a quick, happy comment."
Mr. Freddy is also blessed with a beautiful singing voice, so his school is often graced with his improtu serenades or by his songs at school functions.
Mr.Freddy is a wonderful guy iv'e known him the entire time i was at Cooke and my little sister is a blessed person to have him around.
So happy for Mr.Freddy. my daughter Julie loves Mr.Freddy! It's always pleasant to walk in the school and be greated by his smile. His good attitude is cheering and contagious. Keep up the good work Mr.Freddy and thank you for being the person that brings a smile to the kids. We need more people like you!

Wow! Thank you for the kind words! This is my 10th year at Cooke! Working here has been such an amazing journey and working with the staff it's an honor to work here with the staff, students and families of district 60. There have been many challenging moments that have helped shape who I am today. I have met some of the most amazing families and talented students and I look forward to continuing my career here as an admin asst. Thank you again this means a lot!????
Mr Freddy
This is the first year my son is at Cooke and he loves Mr Freddy. He always has a smile on his face when I have been at the office.
Freddy is the bomb. He is always quick with a joke and a smile. His fun personality shines through and can really brighten your day. It's oddly quiet when he is not in the building, he makes it that much better.

Mr. Freddy is an one of the most amazing people I have ever met. His personality shines so bright with his great personality and exceptional talents in music. I couldn't ask for a more welcoming secretary.
Mr.freddy is a wonderful secretary he knows most if not all the students by name along with most of the parents he is always in a happy mood and can put you in a happy mood just knowing how much he gives and loves his job he is a wonderful secretary and i am so greatful he is at cooke
Alfredo Zires "Mr. Freddie "he is really a wonderful person. My student is only a 1st grader and she loves her Mr. Freddie she tells me of how he is always smiling and is so friendly. She says he is goofy sometimes. Just to know that the secretary at Cooke school knows almost all the kids by name is wonderful. Im so glad he is at Cooke so caring to all the kids makes me feel good and blessed knowing he is there.
Freddie always noticed a new outfit or a "good color" on me when I was teaching at Cooke. He would make the end of day announcements and the students would stop what they were doing and actually listen!
I have yet to interact much with Mr. Freddy but his reputation precedes him. I appreciate his attention, focus, and command of a situation. He problem solves on the spot and keeps chaos to a minimum. He's also really good with the littles. Give him a raise or something!

As a new member of the staff, it was Mr. Freddy that first greeted me this year and made me feel like part of the Cooke Family...that really meant a lot.
Mr. Freddy is always friendly, he brings a smile to my student's faces and is quick to give them a high five and a confidence booster just by talking to them. He is truly a valuable person in our school community!

I'm on my third child at Andrew Cooke Magnet School with Mr. Freddie there the whole time. We all adore him. He is fun, caring, and full of spirit -- ready to participate in themes, assemblies and contests which we are always involved in. Always there too. I speak to him every day that I call. Love ya!
Mr. Freddie is adored by my daughters, extremely professional and patient, and kind. I do remember a time I was having an uber-mommy meltdown as the bus company was pulling some unsafe shenanigans and Mr. Freddie went above and beyond to help me find my daughter. Cooke Magnet would not be the same without him.
Mr. Freddy will forever be in our thanks for helping us stay calm when our kindergartener got lost coming home on the bus the first day of school.
Mr. Freddie is the ABSOLUTE BEST!
