Nicole Kraly was nominated by her colleague, Jacqueline McCabe.
Mrs. Kraly is one of the most dedicated, patient teachers you could work with! She attended a Conscious Discipline training for one week several summers ago in order to continue to grow and learn as an educator. She is very quick to help her colleagues, and she does so without a complaint.
Mrs. Kraly is in charge of her school's backpack program, which sends students home with food every weekend. She also co-chairs the gingerbread program, which helps purchase Christmas gifts for students. She is extremely empathetic and understanding of the challenges her students experience. Her students love her because she is warm and calm. She is their number one cheerleader. She can be silly and funny when her students need it. Mrs. Kraly takes the time to develop positive relationships with her students by learning about their interests and families. She will ask for help and is eager to continue growing and learning.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, Mrs. Kraly worked more than ever. During distance learning, she was planning lessons at night and on the weekends to ensure her students continued to receive the best educational supports.
"I recall telling her that it is important for her to remember she was doing the best she could in unprecedented times," said McCabe. "What is amazing about Nicole is that she is so supportive of all students, not just those assigned to her caseload. She is quick to use her own money to buy anything that students may need, such as clothing and school supplies. She recently purchased items to help a student regulate in the classroom. She first learned what the student's interests were and she quickly researched items she could get."
Mrs. Kraly is also a member of her school's MTSS/RTI (multi-tiered systems of supports/response to intervention) team. She maintains confidentiality and remains professional when interacting with families. She treats families with respect by collaborating with them. Mrs. Kraly arrives to school early and stays late to ensure she completes all aspects of her job to the best of her ability. She treats all of her colleagues with respect, and she consistently has positive energy.

Nicole is one of the most dedicated individuals I have had the pleasure of working with. She motivates her students to outperform their self understanding of their own capabilities. She instills positivity and self-worth within her own students and ultimately lets them know that they can accomplish anything. She is who you want as a teacher, a colleague, and a friend because she will always believe in you. Congratulations Nicole for this outstanding nomination, you deserve it!
I have had the privilege of working alongside Nicole for the past few years and she is so deserving of this award. She is very dedicated to our school community, always lending a helping hand and participating in programs, meetings, and events that help build a positive climate and culture. Nicole goes above and beyond for her students, making sure that their academic and social emotional needs are met. She is not afraid to advocate for them and communicate honestly with families or colleagues. Nicole has a firm yet loving way with her students and knows how to have fun with them. She has developed strong relationships with her students, that continue beyond their years at Orlo. Nicole is the true definition of life changer! Congratulations Nicole!!
I think this Life Changer award is appropriately named because I see so many lives changed because of Nicole. First of all hers. Since she started teaching, I have watched her grow into the consummate teacher. She is passionate about her work and dedicates so much of herself to her students. Her students lives are changing because of the constant love and care she gives each and every one of them. They will become better people because of Nicole. And lastly, the parents of these children are having their lives changed because they are watching their children being nurtured by a special teacher and are filled with gratitude for all that she does every day. Special education teachers need to be special. Nicole definitely fills that role.

Nicole is more than deserving of this award in so many ways. She continuously goes above and beyond not only for her students when they struggle academically but when they struggle personally as well. She is their biggest cheerleader. The students light up when they see her, and seek her out when they need support because they know she has their back. Nicole continues to seek out new ways to support her students and further educate herself in order to do so. She recently completed an intense Wilson Reading training and received her certification so that she may support students with severe reading Reading disabilities. She also completed the Conscious Discipline training program and helped to roll it out to other staff members. Nicole also runs the backpack program On a weekly basis, and the Gingerbread Express during Christmas time. These programs support families who have difficult putting food on the table on the weekends, and presents under the tree at Christmas. Nicole doesn’t just support students in one way, she supports students in all possible ways so that they can be successful and the best version of themselves. That’s what Nicole does. She makes you believe in yourself and find the best version of you and I myself am a better educator and person because of her. She changes the lives of all those who meet her. I truly cannot think of a more deserving person.

During the past 5 years I have had the honor and pleasure of getting to know Nicole as a new member of our family.
I am constantly amazed by her tenacity and the boldness she displays when she is in pursuit of the things she believes in. I have watched her give of herself endlessly with the passion she has for teaching, and I stand in awe as I have witnessed the investment she gives to her students as she continuously educates herself to make sure each one gets as much as she can give them...her compassion is like no other.

I was fortunate enough to have Nicole as a student teacher in my special education years ago. When first meeting Nicole I was taken back by her warm personality and her desire to help others. I knew at that moment that she had that special fire in her that would make her continue to grow into an outstanding educator. I’m am happy to hear that she hasn’t lost that zest to maximize learning for all students. She is a hard worker and dedicated to making her students shine in all areas of their lives.

Nicole is a very passionate person. She goes above and beyond for her students. My son has speech and OT, for a while the school couldn’t find a speech therapist for him and Nicole called around in my surrounding areas trying to figure out something for him as well as frequently FaceTiming with my son in between. Keep in mind I live in Upstate NY and Nicole is 4 hours away in Rhode Island googling and making phone calls for my son to receive help with his speech. She truly advocates for all special Ed children. She is the best cousin I could ever ask for. Thank you Nicole I wish you the best of luck. You deserve it!

Mrs. Kraly is a caring, loving, sweet teacher. My daughter had her for a teacher for couple of years now. My daughter is very shy and she warmed up to Mrs. Kraly right away. She made my daughter feel comfortable and be herself. Till this day she is always asking how everyone is doing. Mrs. Kraly even makes a point to meet with my daughter weekly even though she is not her teacher this year due to distance learning. I am very proud to have Mrs. Kraly as my daughters teacher and helping her with her reading and math. Thank you so much for everything you do.

As a pre-school teacher at St. Paul the Apostle for 28 years I saw many H.S. students engage with children through a partnership with Jericho High school. Nicole was EXCEPTIONAL a stand-out bonding easily with children and navigating a classroom where she was helpful enthusiastic and fun. She was generous and a natural at making the children happy! It’s no surprise she is engaging beyond the classroom to meet the emotional needs of her students and their families through week-end programs. This makes Nicole a well deserved candidate for teacher of the year!

I worked with Nicole during the 2018-19 school year as Nicole's WRS Level I Certification trainer. It is a rigorous training requiring many hours of online coursework, after-school meetings, lesson planning and lesson delivery. Nicole put in the hours on her own time to master the concepts and procedures of the Wilson Reading System. She kept a notebook as she worked through the online course. Learning to teach WRS with fidelity helps teachers to change the lives of their students. Non-readers and struggling readers become proficient readers who will be successful in school and ultimately have more and better opportunities available to support themselves and their families. Nicole changed the trajectory of her WRS Practicum student's life, and I am confident she continues to impact more students every year.
Nicole was born to teach, plain and simple! You can see her eyes light up when she speaks of her students, she is their #1 cheerleader. Not only does she have an incredible amount of patience for children but she advocates for them, fiercely. She inspires her students and everyone around her. For the past three years, I have worked with Nicole Kraly, and there is nobody who deserves this honor more than she does. She always has gone above and beyond in the service of the students of our school. Whether it's coordinating the school backpack program that gets much needed food to families or coordinating the school Gingerbread Program, which gets gifts and toys to kids at Christmastime, Nicole does whatever she can to make the lives of her students better. I have personally seen the growth of the middle schooler that Nicole has mentored for the last few years, and it has been nothing short of amazing. Nicole is an amazing person, always advocating for children. She was a valuable resource to me when my children needed additional services in school. She gave me resources to navigate through the education system. Nicole also remained realistic and encouraging through the process. She’s tremendous asset.
I have know for over 10 years and during this time she has become family. Her love for others, her ability to bring happiness and joy and her passion for her students are some of her best qualities. Nicole and I have been friends and colleagues for years. As a colleague Nicole has always been willing to jump in and help with anything. I’ve witnessed her amazing and passionate teaching abilities that she has for students mean while leaving room for growth and inspiring them to believe in themselves. Nicole is resourceful, intelligent and knowledgeable. If she doesn’t know something she’s honest and doesn’t play the “I know everything role” but is willing to help you find the answers.
Nicole can multitask like no other... while she is instructing, she also searches for material, lends a hand and succeeds at accomplishing her assistance with colleagues (and that is just one of her many positive characteristics that we love about her.

It’s great seeing Nicole in her professional role but I’m also fortunate to see her in her friendship role as well.
Our friendship is not based on going on vacations and growing up with each other it is based on a mutual respect we have for one another. A friendly relationship that has grown over the years to the point we shared our time with other great friends laughing so hard, getting positive feedback and allowing us to be ourselves without any judgment.

Through the years I’ve known Nicole I’ve seen a passion unmatched by any teacher I’ve ever seen. I have known Nicole for over 10 years. We met as undergraduates working to obtain our education degrees. Her life changing abilities were a skill set that she has continued to develop well before she began her teaching career with East Providence Public Schools. Nicole has always put the individual needs of her students at the forefront of all her work. During college she spent infinite amounts of time modifying and accommodating the individual needs of her practice students. She put forth the additional effort for students that she would only have for short amounts of time. Her devotion and motivation to support and develop each and every child has truly helped mold her into the incredible person and educator she is today. She not only spends her time providing services, supporting families, and advocating for the best interests of her students in school, but also, she continues to develop rapport and relationships out of school. During COVID she continued to provide the best education possible and continued to find creative ways to meet the needs of her students. Any child and family that walks through her classroom door is beyond lucky to have someone as talented and devoted as her. As a friend and teacher as well, Nicole is the only stand out nominee deserving of this award.

I can not think of a more deserving educator! Nicole is the epitome of a selfless educator! She consistently puts the needs of her students before her own! It’s awesome to see her get highlighted and recieve the recognition she deserves ??
Miss Kraly goes above and beyond for her students and colleagues on a daily basis. I have worked with her for a few years and have witnessed her growth as a teacher and a person. I have worked with Nicole at Orlo for the past 4 years. Over those years I have observed Nicole's patience, kindness and creativity with her students. She not only teaches them academics but also life skills which are so important. Nicole seems to become part of the families of our students, even getting invited to a birthday party many years after having a student on her roster. We say at our school that when you attend, you become part of our village and we are super lucky to have Nicole as a member of that village. She is without a doubt a life changer for so many.
When I first met Miss Kraly, I didn't know how soon she would become my family. She teaches me important stuff like how to tell time, cooking, stranger danger, money, etc., etc. We don't just learn we do fun stuff like going to the zoo, Mystic Aquarium, shopping, going to restaurants and so much more. Miss Kraly is nice, kind, caring and a funny person. I'm grateful to have her in my life. She is hilarious and cool! Miss Kraly is the best teacher that any student could have. Like Mustafa Kemal Ataturk said "A good teacher is like a candle-it consumes itself to light the way for others." Miss Kraly made me the person I am today and I love her very much.

Miss Kraly is also part of the PASS program. She is my daughters PASS Worker. My daughter is on the spectrum and the amount of time and support she gives/puts in to my daughter, on and off the clock, is unexplainable. She is currently engaged to my nephew and although she had to postpone her July wedding due to the pandemic, she seemed to take that unfortunate circumstance in stride and quickly look ahead to planning for the future. Nicole also spends some of her days off mentoring one of her former students, and preparing her for a future of being independent. I’m sure all who were nominated are deserving, but I KNOW that no one will outwork Nicole and push their students to success the way that she does.
Nicole, I can not begin to tell you how proud you make me each and every day. I am honored to witness all the hard work and dedication that you put into your profession.
I have known Nicole for over 15 years. As the Administrator of a preschool, Nicole would come into our preschool on a voluntary basis. She would work in various classrooms and was always so patient and loving with our students. She was always helpful to all of our staff and would always assist them in a very professional manner. Even as a high school student you could tell that she was destined to become an educator. I am not surprised to see that she consistently goes above and beyond for her students. I am very proud of the educator she has become.
I am so happy and proud that you’ve been nominated, but I am not surprised at all! Nicole takes such pride and joy in her profession, which I admire so much! Teachers like Nicole leave an imprint on their students hearts forever, you should be proud of yourself!
Nicole Kraly is an amazing person and educator. She really does go above and beyond for all of her students!
Nicole Kraly was a proven life changer from a very early age!! As a high school student this brilliant young woman enrolled in an Exploring Early Childhood Education class at Jericho High School. As part of this program she came to work at St Paul The Apostle Preschool for two years under my directorship.
I immediately recognized her talent for working with children! Nicole is patient, kind and so caring. She is a natural teacher, who possesses an obvious love for children, and the ability to relate to students.
During her tenure at the preschool, Nicole worked with a few of our special needs students and it was here where her greatest talents shined! Her patience was limitless and she helped each student learn and grow. When she informed our staff that she was headed to college to study education, we were so happy that she would continue to educate children for years to come.
Nicole was a life changer for the students and staff at our preschool, and continues that role today! It is with great pride that I support her nomination!!!
Nicole takes pride and honor in her profession and goes the extra mile for not only for her students but for anyone.

I am so proud of my sister Nicole for all the work she has done these past few years as a teacher. She will always go above and beyond for her students. She is extremely dedicated to helping them both in school and out of school with the backpack program. Nicole has changed the lives of many of her students and has seen such amazing progress in them. She is so passionate and hardworking which is why she is so deserving of this nomination.
No one is more deserving than Nicole. Her number one priority is her students, even outside of school. She is the most generous and caring person I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. She has a way of bringing out the absolute best in the people around her with her sense of humor and kindness.
Nicole’s passion for teaching and her students was evident even as far back as when she was in H.S. in her Early Childhood class. She was a student teacher at the pre school I taught and I saw first hand how loving she was with the children. The students were drawn to her upbeat attitude and her warm personality.
I’m proud to say she has found her passion and will leave a powerful impact on her students as they surely will do for her.
