Sydney Scotton was nominated by an anonymous student.

"I met Coach Scotton my sophomore year of high school, and ever since then, she has played an important part of my life," her nominator said. "She has taught me to be confident, and has taught me the importance of leadership."

Coach Scotton constantly puts her students and her cheer team first, spending much of her time at Cypress Lakes empowering them. She encourages the student body to participate in school spirit, and she pushes them academically.

"Coach Scotton is that one teacher who has changed my life  forever," her nominator said.

This girl will change the world. Her entire life Sydney has been one reaches out. She can put together a wheel-chair ramp like a construction worker thanks to her mission trip experiences. As a teen, she worked many hours with Harris County Early Childhood Intervention putting on Mother's Day Out for disabled toddlers. Now, as a high school teacher, it is her goal that no student fails on her watch. Her heart and determination for her students has resulted in higher than expected test scores. If I could describe Sydney Scotton in one phrase, it would be, "she has a servant's heart."
