Cheryl DelSanto was nominated by a family member, Sarah DelSanto.

As a recipient of the District Teacher of the Year award in three different school systems, Cheryl is an amazing teacher. She teaches woodshop, electricity, architecture, engineering, and many other technology education classes. Cheryl works extremely hard to make sure that all of her students are able to succeed. She serves as a role model for many young women in technology education.

In addition, Cheryl takes her students to competitions. Her students have won various statewide competitions and awards for their work. She is a leader who definitely gives her students the "tools" to be successful!

During distance learning, Cheryl set up a workshop at home and bought equipment to create video tutorials of how to use power tools. She reinforced the ideas in these videos by finding online simulations in which students could experience engineering concepts without being in the classroom.

In the past, Cheryl has served on committees for RIDE (the Rhode Island Department of Education). She has worked tirelessly on these committees to rewrite standards and revamp the state's curriculum for technology education. Her efforts on these committees have assisted many educators in the state of Rhode Island and beyond.

The most amazing thing about Cheryl is her rapport with students. She makes connections with her students and genuinely cares about each and every one of them. After students graduate, she works with companies and business to help students find job placements in their chosen field. This is above and beyond! Many of her previous students contact her years after they've graduated to tell her how much they've accomplished because of her classes and guidance.

"Cheryl is committed to making technology education accessible and exciting for all," said Sarah. "She has changed so many lives by caring about her students and her content area."

Thank you for sharing this with me! It is so wonderful to know that my children share my passion. Both Sarah, and my son, Andrew, have pursued education as their lifelong employment. In the first paragraph, Sarah explains that I was selected for teacher of the year in 3 separate districts. I was chosen for this recognition in two districts, Bristol-Warren and Portsmouth. The third recognition was for the national program of the year award (ITEAA) when I was in Barrington RI. I hope that this correction helps. Thank you again for sharing! It was so great to know that my daughter thinks so highly of me!! Cheryl
