Dorey Bryan was nominated by her superintendent, Dr. Alfred Savio

Mrs. Bryan has been West Cape May Elementary School's secretary since 2010. She was an active PTA member and parent of two students who went through the school on a tuition basis, prior to becoming the school secretary. She works in a small district where staff and students are like a family; everyone knows everyone.

Mrs. Bryan consistently makes a difference in the lives of students. She knows each one by name, and is the recipient of many hugs throughout the day. Three days a week, she acts as the school nurse when the part-time nurse is not around. She is nurturing and compassionate, but at the same time, she does not have the wool pulled over her eyes from the students. She creates an atmosphere of family collegiality among the staff and students.

Mrs. Bryan is a leader and has a part-time assistant secretary who only works 25 hours a week. The rest of the time, Mrs. Bryan comes in early and stays late to ensure that the required reports are completed on time, and all issues are resolved before returning home to her family.

Mrs. Bryan has consistently received outstanding performance evaluations. She goes above and beyond her job description and handles any task that she is given. Her moral and ethical standards are above reproach. She knows what has to be kept confidential, and always finds a way to resolve a sticky situation or problem.

"It is without reservation that I recommend Mrs. Dorey Bryan as a LifeChanger of the Year," Savio said. "She is an asset to our school community and is someone who can be counted on to get the job done quickly, efficiently, and without oversight."
