Felicia Hodges was nominated by a colleague, Ryan Cannon.
Ms. Hodges is constantly working with the youth of her school in order to teach them everything from behavioral management to career building skills. She has them working in the community with fundraisers and activities.
"Her influence with our millennials is unparrelled with that of any other family and consumer science teacher I have ever worked with," Cannon said.
Ms. Hodges has students leading the school agenda with her FCCLA championship team. She has encouraged and assisted students in creating virtual lives based on occupation, living expenses, education costs, family events, and unforeseen circumstances. These students have received hands-on training that is not limited to what's scheduled into the school day. She has offered afterschool clubs, community partnership building, and fostered entrepreneurial business opportunities for her FCCLA students.
Cannon has personally seen hundred of students take Ms. Hodges' class and benefit for years to come because of it. She loves her students and would do anything to see them succeed. She has done everything from holding school-wide fundraisers as a way to generate funds for the extracurricular activities, to using her own personal finances to ensure that funds are available for the success of her students. Ms. Hodges not only holds the highest sense of moral and ethical standards while working with her students, but she is committed to making sure each student has the opportunity to go above and beyond.

Mrs. Hodges is an enthusiastic educator that exposes students to experiences that they will never forget!
Ms. Hodges has cultivated a reputation for excellence and the most exciting part is that there are students that are coming from 5th grade who are seeking to take her class and signing up for FCCLA before they are even officially in middle school. The only thing that surpasses her passion for this program is her winning attitude and bright smile. Good luck to Mrs. Hodges!

As TAPP Supervisor for Griffen RESA, I had the awesome opportunity to supervise Ms. Hodges in her pursuit of teacher certification in FACS. It was truly a pleasure to observe the way that Ms. Hodges established effective relationships with her students, the faculty, and staff at her school. She was an encourager, a disciplinarian, as well as an inspiration to everyone she encountered. I feel that Ms. Hodges is certainly a great candidate for this prestigious award and would represent Newton County with honor and dignity.
