Ms. Dougherty is an amazing nurse! Although she was nominated during COVID-19, it's normal operating procedure for her to provide up-to-date information to keep everyone in her school safe.
Ms. Dougherty takes the safety of students and staff extremely seriously. She maintains meticulous records for every student. This keeps students safe in school, on field trips, and while participating in athletics. Ms. Dougherty also arranges for the school doctor to provide student physicals and working papers.
It might appear that Ms. Dougherty is only serious about paperwork, but that's the furthest thing from the truth. Ms. Dougherty provides hands-on services to keep the students and staff healthy. Whether a student has a slight fever or a more serious emergency, Ms. Dougherty is there! If the emergency escalates, she is able to communicate crucial information to 911 operators and EMS while treating the patient with the best care. While at Westbury, Ms. Dougherty has saved lives. It may be more appropriate to call her “Life-saver of the Year."
In addition to her normal duties as school nurse, Ms. Dougherty regularly attends sporting events and graduations as a supporter of the Westbury Dragons. She is easily visible in her Westbury apparel, and she has a lot of pride for her school and the greater community.
