LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Gina Kincaid was nominated by her friend, Angie Terrell.

"I have known Gina since I was 14 years old. From the time I met her, she talked about wanting to be a teacher and making a difference in children’s lives," Terrell said. "Once she graduated high school, she enrolled in college and earned a degree in early childhood education from the University of West Georgia. Afterwards, she began her career as a teacher at Sand Hill Elementary School in Carroll County, GA."

For 32 years, Mrs. Kincaid has devoted herself to teaching and impacting the lives of children. She believed that it was so important for children to have a good foundation to build the rest of their educational career on. During her career, she worked as a first grade teacher before transitioning to kindergarten, where she has been for the last several years.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Kincaid was often selected as the teacher to work with students with special needs. She had a way of assisting these students so they could reach their potential, no matter what their struggles were. She was known as a firm, but loving teacher who challenged her kids to do their best and not settle.

Mrs. Kincaid worked hard to build relationships with her students, their parents, and her coworkers. She maintained connections with many of her former students. Recently, a former student’s parent reached out to her to let her know her child had been accepted to the University of Georgia. She thanked Mrs. Kincaid for starting her child’s school career off in such a positive way.

Mrs. Kincaid was not only dedicated to impacting children’s lives through school. She has also spent many years teaching children through her church involvement. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church for years, and during that time, she taught children’s church for a period of time. Later, she and her husband went to another church, Discovery. While at Discovery, she served as a leader in the church and worked with children. Then, Mrs. Kincaid's husband got called to pastor a church of his own. She has supported him in many ways, such as by organizing and overseeing their Vacation Bible School. For the past three years, they have gone on mission trips teaching Vacation Bible School in a very rural area that has very few resources.

"Gina's career did not end the way she would have liked due to COVID-19, but she embraced digital learning to finish out the year and concluded her profession in a way that she will never forget. It was bittersweet because she didn't get to experience all of the goodbye hugs with her children," said Terrell. "Gina has definitely been a LifeChanger."
