Marcia Crayton was nominated by her colleague, Paul Pelech.
Ms. Crayton has served as assistant principal of Westbury High School for 18 years. As of July 1, 2020, she will be retiring. Simply put, Ms. Crayton changes lives each and every day.
During a normal school day, it's not uncommon to find staff, students, parents, and community members in her office. People flock to her because they trust her advice and wisdom.
"From working with her, I have observed students go from being in danger of dropping out to graduating high school," said Pelech. "I have seen staff members who had a rough day (professionally or personally) visit Ms. Crayton and have their days transformed into great ones. Ms. Crayton serves as a role model for the entire community of Westbury. While we are sad to lose her due to retirement, it is important to celebrate all of her accomplishments. Ms. Crayton would never ask for such attention or celebration, as to her, this is 'all in a day's work.'
