Raimundo Modia was nominated by his colleague, Robin Porter.
Mr. Modia has taught for 40 years. His passion is music, and it transmits to his students. Many of his students have gone on to become professional musicians or undertake careers in the music industry. He has touched them in band, classical, Latin, and contemporary music. He has also taught in Guatemala and served as a conductor.
"There are not enough words to describe the impact he has had on the Miami Beach community," said Porter. "He taught parents of current students, and has taught students who have gone on to become teachers in the MDCPS community. The ripples of his impact will be felt for years to come."
