Music that Describes Marian
Marian Brown was nominated by Rosette Wiley, a member of her community.
Mrs. Brown has been an educator for over 45 years. She taught in DC Public Schools for over 30 years before coming to Prince George's County Public Schools to teach another 15 years. At the age of 72, she is now beginning her retirement.
During the course of her tenure, she has always been more than a media specialist. She has been a mother, a mentor, and a counselor. In each role she held, she always supported students to the fullest.
"Over the past 15 years, I have watched her tutor and mentor students while helping them achieve their dreams and goals," said Wiley. "Some of her students have left to attend private school and receive scholarships for college. She has been an advocate for reading programs and sponsored many contests throughout the county."
Mrs. Brown's love of children and education has earned her the admiration and love of thousands of students who have passed through her doors. If you travel anywhere in Washington DC or Prince George's County in Maryland, chances are high you'll run into someone who knows Mrs. Brown. When asked to describe her, their face will light up as they recall the warmness in her smile and generous attitude.
"She has been a great asset to the boys and girls clubs in Prince George's County Public Schools and a legend at DeMarha High School," said Wiley. "I'm proud and honored to recognize Mrs. Brown as a LifeChanger. She has been committed to the service of her community and the children of Washington DC and Prince George's County Public Schools."
