I’ve seen the beautiful results of Mrs Destito in the different concert she does with the children and I’m always amazed by it.
But it’s not until the beginning of this year, I started to volunteer and helping her in her class that I truly understand her work!
She teach the kids more than just a song, and her passion and love for what she does is not work, it is art.
She loves the students, she see potential in all of them. She shows so much care for each of them. That’s how she is able to deliver so many successful and beautiful concerts. We love her very much
Carolyn has an extraordinary gift for reaching ad teaching children. She has a smile that lights up the room and a warmth that makes the children know they are loved and cared for. Carolyn Destito was my son's first French Horn Teacher. For 6 years. her amazing skill, influence, and friendnship resulted in him attending and Graduating High School from Interlochen Arts Academy. Her constant encouragement also resulted in him receiving his BA, MMA, and DMA in French Horn Performance. We will value her continued close friendship and influence, always!

Life-changing is a perfect description of Carolyn. I taught down the hall from her for fifteen years. The love and carrying she showed her students was a beautiful thing to see. She worked with some of the toughest students in the school year after year. In our elective classes when other teachers gave up on students because of their behavior she was right there to welcome them. She found an instrument that suited them and brought the joy of learning how to play music to a population that typically didn't have that option. The pride those student showed when performing for our school and in the community is something that defines life-changing. They will forever be musicians.
She became my teacher 20 years ago this year, and she remains the best I've ever had! She's truly wonderful and absolutely deserves to win!
