We love you Mr. Gordon... Forever and ever.
My son, Dylan, has been in Mr. Gordon's class for two years. Mr. Gordon personifies not only excellence in education, but also in life. He may be a Civics and U.S. History teacher, but his lessons and leadership in respect, kindness and compassion are the greatest lessons he teaches. He creates a safe place for his students founded upon mutual respect and a sense of community. For middle schoolers, life is not always easy, but to know that this man is on their side, every day brings comfort. If an issue arises, he isn't afraid to divert from the lesson plan to teach more important lessons about life and humanity. He encourages his students to be good citizens through participation in service projects benefiting both their local and global community. For Mr. Gordon, being a part of the community is an active, not a passive adventure. When our family was quarantined, Mr. Gordon was the first to call and offer to pick up groceries for us. He goes above and beyond in all that does. Finally, each time you see or speak to Mr. Gordon, without question, you receive a warm and genuine welcome. It's an immeasurable gift. I can't imagine a better person for a Lifechanger award, as he certainly has changed the life or our son and our family.

Steve not only cares about his students intellectual growth but also about their emotional well being. He makes a point of getting to know the "whole" student which helps him build a community in his classroom and within the school building. The relationships he builds with the students, parents and staff is strengthened by his positive attitude and contagious smile! Steve is truly a SUPERSTAR!

Steve Gordon is just the kindest, most caring and respectful gentleman that you would ever want to meet and have as a team member of Western Pines Middle School. He is one of the typical, most seasoned, selfless teachers from the old school of professionals that are a fading breed! Teachers today are wonderful. However, when our era were educated to be teachers, many more stringent requirements were placed on us. We were instilled with ethics, moral values and many qualities that are left out of the new course work that is taught in Colleges today. Yes, there is all the greatest technology that these new teaches have but something more was given to us. We were constantly monitored, given psychological testing and if we weren't suited for teaching , then we were advised to seek another profession. Teaching is a great profession, but should not be if you can't do anything else, then be a teacher. Steve represents all and more of those great things we were taught. He is a jewel. God Bless Him. His love is deep, sincere for his work and his students! Congrats Steve!
