Leigh Moseman was nominated by her colleague, Brooke Baker.

Baker has worked with Leigh Moseman at Woodgate Intermediate for two years. As a social worker in a school setting, Baker often felt frustrated with the lack of training for teachers working with students with a history of trauma or challenging behaviors. While at Woodgate, Baker spent a significant amount of time in different classrooms, not only observing student behavior, but teacher behavior, as well.

After entering Ms. Moseman's classroom, Baker thought she was watching a veteran teacher. She taught her class like someone who had been in the profession for 20+ years. Baker had no clue that Ms. Moseman had only been teaching for a few years prior.

"Leigh had everything down; classroom management, engaging students, enjoyable learning environment, and differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each student's unique learning styles," Baker said. "She was kind and warm, but most of all, it was evident that she LOVED her job and LOVED her students. It was also evident that her students knew she cared."

Baker had observed many classrooms where students displayed aggressive behaviors, defiance, and disrespect. In Ms. Moseman's classroom, students treated each other with respect and were engaged and excited to learn. Students feel welcomed, appreciated, and most importantly, safe. Ms. Moseman's classroom is a safe space for every child, and she makes sure that nobody sees them as "different' or "special ed students." The reason her students succeed and thrive is because of the behaviors she models, each and every day.

"Leigh treats every single student with kindness, respect, and a warmth that cannot be taught. She's genuine, which is apparent to everyone that knows her," Baker said.

Ms. Moseman not only treats her students this way, but her co-workers and other staff members. She changes lives with grace and warmth for every person she meets.

I've known Leigh since we were babies. Everyone in life faces adversity. Some harder adversity than others. Some become bitter and continue to ask "why me?" Others learn and grow from the adversity in life. Leigh is one of these people. Instead of staying tied up in her own problems she reaches outward and becomes a help to so many. She truly cares about others and is more interested in building you up rather than telling her story. While Leigh has always been full of laughter and fun, it never takes the place of making sure you are OK. I've watched her through the years and continue to be inspired by her giving to others. I've watched her wait patiently for an opportunity like her teaching job and I'm sure if you tell her she is a great teacher she will simply respond "I am blessed," never worrying about accolades that may or may not come. Leigh is the real deal. She has been and still is a "difference maker" in the lives of those who know her.

My sister is only 11 months younger than me, so I don't remember life without her. Leigh has always been my side-kick, playmate, listener, encourager, prayer warrior, and best friend. She has truly changed my life by being a godly role model of surrender and love for others. I've witnessed her in many physically demanding situations, but she chooses to take her pain and bless others. God has taken her brokenness and uses her to see the hurts of her students with compassion and humor. Leigh is so deserving of this award!! From your biggest cheerleader!

Ms. Moseman is an outstanding and compassionate teacher. Her consistency of attitude, her love for her children, her commitment to helping them become all they can, and her continual striving for improvement of her skills are reasons to consider her seriously for this award. Without doubt, Leigh Moseman has changed, for the better, the lives of students who knew only rejection and criticism before meeting Ms. Moseman. Since that encounter, they have learned to trust someone and to respond to care and concern. She has changed their lives positively.

Leigh is one of the kindest and strongest people I know. She focuses on the positives. She is sensitive to others needs in a respectful and compassionate manner. She has had so many challenges and she got and continues to get through them with grace and that beautiful smile and lots of warm hugs. She is a model and inspiration.

Heart and humor - Two words I use to describe Leigh. She puts her heart into her students and colleagues each day with a touch of humor to bring a smile. These qualities shine through in her preparation and interactions through interuptions and new students. Midway ISD and its students are the winners because of Leigh.

Leigh Moseman has always been an idol of mine! Leigh was my neighbor in Vidalia Ga. she became such a role model to not only me but the entire neighborhood. She was my best friend. What a wonderful and fun husband she had. Everyone loved David. I considered Kathrine and Caroline my own. The day I found out they were moving had to be one of the worst days of my life! I didn’t want to lose Leigh!! She’s one genuine and unique person!! She doesn’t judge anyone and loves each other the same! She’d give the shirt off her back! I’d have to say her love language in life is “giving.” She always put God first and has the best testimony I’ve ever heard!! I’m so proud of you Katherine! You’ve turned into a little Leigh!!! Katherine has blossomed into a beautiful young lady and has been an inspiration to us all!!! Yes Leigh Moseman is one of a kind!!! A jewel to all people!!

I was lucky to get to work with Leigh Quinn Moseman and evaluate her for her first time! Brooke Baker is spot on in her description of Leigh! She is incredible with students and has been even her first year! You can't "teach" that part of teaching - the love, humility,, grace, kindness that she extends to students and co-workers. Simply amazing!

Leigh Moseman is a truly gifted teacher. She goes over and beyond what is expected of her out of the goodness of her heart because she is always striving for what is best for her students. I have had the honor of working with her at Woodgate for several years. This is a well deserved nomination. We love you Leigh!!!

I met Leigh as a substitute teacher 5 years ago in my classroom. She instantly made an impact on my life with her sweet spirit and words of affirmation for all around. I was so happy when she got to join my classroom full time. We worked with students with severe cognitive, physical and behavioral issues. That did not matter to Leigh. She loved each one of our students with all her heart. She worked hard with me as a team player everyday never complaining always offering support. There are no bad days when Leigh is around because she makes sure that she always lends an ear and gives a hug and kind words of wisdom. She soon worked hard to finish certification requirements and got her own classroom. I was so happy for her success and the students that would continually be blessed by her daily. Leigh is still and will always be a close friend and one that I admire. She is so deserving of this nomination.

I met Leigh when she was a teen and it was obvious she had a special heart. "Leigh treats every single student with kindness, respect, and a warmth that cannot be taught." While I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment, I disagree that it cant be taught. Leigh had the most wonderful teachers- her parents. I have never known finer folks. Leigh met with adversity, healthwise, and her strength of character was refined. Her many friends and family have leaned on her strength, counted on her prayers, and "soaked up" her genuine warmth. Although I havent observed her in the classroom, I know that she spreads love and compassion wherever she goes!

I am Leigh’s next door neighbor. She is a wonderful woman to know. Her dedication and grace to her family, friends, and students is inspiring. I consider my family extremely lucky to be living next to Leigh and her family for many reasons. Seeing that she is nominated for this award is not surprising. She is your perfect candidate.

Leigh is not only a great teacher and mother. She is a wonderful wife as well. In other words, she is an all-around amazing person, and I am so thankful for her genuine heart, sweet spirit, and God-inspired love for others. God blesses us richly with her. I love you, Leigh, and am so proud of you! David

This article could not be more true!! My momma is constantly putting others before herself. She strives to make a difference in their lives, showing many love and kindness that they seldom are shown in other areas of their lives. She never fails to be able to put a smile on anyone's face. I can tell you from having a front row seat the many hours she puts in at home- leaving to go to work before the sun has even risen and before almost everyone else has even woken up, and then working constantly until she goes to bed, physically exhausted and fighting through the pain she faces from her arthritis to head to work the next day and no doubt make all those around her smile and feel so valued. She truly is a life changer.

I could not agree with you more! Mrs. Moseman lives each day to the fullest because she knows the struggle first hand on how hard life can be when the simple things in life turn out to be not so simple! Her testimony has shaped her intentionally chosen career path and I believe its her value in her choice that brings Mrs. Moseman to class everyday renewed and with a warm smile for all she comes into contact with!
