Music that Describes Kimberly

Kimberly Baker was nominated by her principal, Jenifer Rayne.

Mrs. Baker is the epitome of school spirit. She is an avid supporter of all things Pocomoke High School, especially of current students and Pocomoke High Alumni. She's there to take care of any physical ailments or injuries student-athletes may have, and she attends all games, both at Pocomoke High School and at the collegiate level for graduates.

Mrs. Baker is consistently there for college athletes who are Pocomoke alumni. She keeps the Pocomoke community abreast of their graduates' successes. Mrs. Baker demonstrates exemplary character and work ethic in all that she does, both within and outside of the school day.  The high moral values she demonstrates each day are incredibly important to her students' emotional and social growth.

Mrs. Baker has revamped the student fan section at athletic events. Student fans are able to participate in half-time games and gain reduced admission rates for participating in dress-up themes that show school spirit. Additionally, Mrs. Baker tirelessly organizes extracurricular student activities during lunch and after school in order to keep members of the student population plugged in.

"We are so fortunate to have her as part of our school family," said Rayne. "She is 'the one” who hundreds of students go to in celebration and in tribulation. Her dedication to all Pocomoke High School students, as well as PHS graduates, makes her a LifeChanger."

Kim is always a positive motivator for our school and our students. All three of my children have personally benefited from her expertise as the athletic trainer as well as her compassionate understanding. She is always the biggest fan for the students and those who have gone on to play sports at the next level.

Kim is so much more than a trainer to her athletes. My kids knew they could trust her to heal them physically but also emotionally, she was always ready to listen and support them. The support has never stopped, even though my kids are graduates of PHS and of college, she still reaches out with kindness, support, and love. These attributes definitely make Kim Baker a life changer!!

Kim Baker is both a former colleague and she was the Athletic Trainer And Emotional Support Person to my athlete daughter. The athletes at Pocomoke High go to Kim for their physical injuries but she also helps them with the rough spots in their personal lives. They both love and respect her. I am also amazed at how she takes the time out of her busy day to recognize the achievements of our graduates. She follows their post secondary athletic careers, their workforce achievements and their personal triumphs. She loves PHS students like they were her own family!!!

Kim is the definition of “most school spirited”! She is never short on new and innovative ideas to make our school events special and exciting! She is the best “prom”-posal planner, an expert gofundme writer, veteran pep-rally decorator, top student athlete promoter and amazing school therapy-dog spoiler. She treats every sports team within our school like they are next state champions and loves our students like they are her own. Our school is so lucky to have her and her spirit and dedication is irreplaceable!

Mrs. Kim is more than an athletic trainer here at PHS. She is the spirit of the school. She mentors, loves, supports, and motivates students on and off the field. ??

Mrs. Kim is the best of the best! At the young age of 14 she showed me what it means to be a real part of your community. She shows up for people, she supports them, she heals them physically and mentally. She has so much integrity and wisdom. I remember as a young woman feeling like I wanted to be like her when I grow up. I still do. She brings love and light to every room she enters and has changed so many lives for the better.

Whether you’ve got a sprained ankle, had a bad day at school, or need a pep talk before a big game, Mrs. Kim is the first person you want to see and talk to. Suddenly that ankle doesn’t hurt anymore, and that pregame anxiety is settled. Mrs. Kim goes above and beyond to support her current student athletes by coming in early and staying well after the lights get turned off on the field. She is the glue to the community by keeping us all updated on alumni athlete successes years after they graduate. And where does she get the updates? From being on the sidelines of the games themselves as an avid fan. I can’t think of a more deserving, genuine, loving person to win this award. Mrs. Kim is more than a Life Changer of the Year, she is a Life Changer of a Lifetime.

Miss Kim is an extraordinary athletic trainer, but an even better person. She has a heart for all the student-athletes that walk the halls of Pocomoke High School. She wraps ankles and rehabilitates students, but offers life lessons and gives advice that lasts a life time to these students. She is a blessing to Pocomoke High and exemplifies the ideals of the Life Changer of the Year award.

i got to know Kim when my daughters played field hockey at Pocomoke High School. She is a “trip”. Her considerable medical knowledge as well as her fabulous personality makes her irreplaceable. She has an immediate connection with everyone she meets and makes you feel as if you are the most important person around. There’s always a smile on her face and a happy comment

Kim is the best. Right after we won the state championship for field hockey my senior year, I tore my ACL. Kim was with me every step of the way and helped me during my rehab. That was nearly 20 years ago. Kim still keeps in touch with me, and we always reconnect around our birthdays, which occur around the same time as hockey playoffs. She still talks about one of my great plays against Crisfield like it was yesterday. I cannot think of a more deserving person to receive this award.

Kim Baker is not only the best athletic trainer, but she thinks of every athlete she has ever worked with as her own kid! She supports every sports team with all she has and continues to follow the athletes well past high school. Attending games, posting their success on social media and always staying in contact with them. She is the true definition of a Warrior and a Life Changer for countless athletes that she meets at Pocomoke High School and wherever she goes! ????

Brandi Castaneda Posted over a year ago

CALLING ALL WARRIORS PAST & PRESENT TO VOTE FOR THE BEST! She is the biggest fan and heart of Pocomoke Athletics and the one that keeps Warriors connected and supported well beyond their time at PHS. She is the best athletic trainer! In between all of our crazy sports schedules, she follows every college playing Warrior and even shows up on their sidelines making weekend trips and evening rides!! Not to mention how she celebrates those making a difference in their own communities and leading successful careers and beyond athletics. Her heart and outreach never ends and she does so selflessly. SHE IS THE REAL MVP! TO PLAY for Pocomoke is to be loved by Kim Baker! We love you Mrs. Kim Baker!!! This is ALL you...we're ALL IN ???? #believe ? #LCOY

My classroom was directly across the hall from the athletic training room until I retired from teaching. I witnessed Kim Baker constantly and consistently uplifting, encouraging, and mentoring not only athletes, but other students at PHS. I can literally say she changes and turns lives around, including mine. One session during an After School Academy session, she performed the Heimlich maneuver in my classroom, not on one of the students that took my "class", but on ME! I will always hold Kim Baker in highest regard. Her life matches her actions every day. She knows how to show compassion to every one she meets. Blessings to a phenomenal athletic trainer, because any student that knows Miss Kim is blessed.

Kim is truly a life changer for the students, staff, and community of Pocomoke City, MD. She is someone who does not crave recognition but she makes sure that if someone is in need, she will find a way to help them. She has taught our school community to those who need it. As the school's athletic trainer she touches the lives of our school athletes on and off the field. A true warrior for others. Congratulations on the nomination. You deserve to win.

Ms Kim Baker is more than an athletic trainer, she gives every student her attention when he or she walks in her door with an injury or just needs advise. She guides them with her uplifting talks with humor & honesty. Ms Kim is always there for her students even long after they graduate. As a parent of a former Pocomoke student/athlete I am thankful for Ms Kim’s guidance and training she gave my daughter after her injury to be able to continue her student/athlete collegiate career. Ms Kim Baker is a true definition of a WARRIOR and Pocomoke HS is blessed to have such wonderful person in their staff.

I was one of the athletes that Mrs. Baker had in her training room almost everyday during my high school years. She supported and encouraged me through my Pocomoke Field Hockey career and made me feel like I was important and taken care of at all times. She comes to my Salisbury Field Hockey games during her free time and has always been my biggest fan. I truly don’t know what I’d do without this lady! She is the most genuine, kind and caring person around.
