Amy LaMondue was nominated by her principal, Tammy MacDonald.

Have you ever watched poetry in motion? Well, that is how MacDonald describes what it's like to watch Amy LaMondue work with her dyslexia students. Students with dyslexia face extra challenges every day, but with the expert guidance of Mrs. LaMondue, they are able to experience progress and success on a daily basis. Teaching students to overcome dyslexia requires a whole different approach to teaching and learning -  hence, the reference to poetry in motion. It is mesmerizing to watch Mrs. LaMondue and her students as she skillfully engages them in an interactive learning experience that incorporates multiple senses and tactics. Her commitment to her profession is evident by what she says and has done in order to provide the most up-to-date, research-based instructional practices. She attended a rigorous training program through Texas Scottish Rite Hospital to become a certified Dyslexia Therapist, and her skillful attention to detail means that her students receive 100% of her expertise, support, and guidance.

"In addition to being a phenomenal teacher, Mrs. LaMondue's sense of humor and willingness to help other teachers has made her a leader amongst her peers, and a friend to all at Jefferson Elementary School," MacDonald said.
