LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Janna Taylor was nominated by her principal, Tammy MacDonald.

Ms. Taylor has been a life-saver for MacDonald.  As the principal of a Title 1, bilingual campus, MacDonald would be stretched beyond capacity because she is without an assistant principal. Ms. Taylor stepped up to the plate and has become MacDonald's co-pilot, second set of eyes and ears, a champion for all students, and an outstanding mentor and coach for all teachers. 

As an instructional coach, Ms. Taylor is tasked with observing instructional practices and helping teachers work smarter, not harder. Her approach to coaching sets the tone for an open and nurturing relationship with the teachers, and her interactions with the students give them a sense of being loved and cared for. The staff know that they can rely on excellent guidance when they consult with Ms. Taylor, and MacDonald knows that her staff are covered when she is out of the building for various meetings.

"Our campus is the oldest school in Sherman, Texas, rich with history and stories, and it's because of people like Janna that students and staff have fond memories of their experiences at Jefferson Elementary School," MacDonald Said.
