Cortney Brown was nominated by her colleague, Kristee Bernd.

Ms. Brown always goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure things run smoothly and are successful. She is always willing to step in whenever she is needed. She helps students with medical needs, moves to different classrooms or groups if she is needed, and works very intensely with students to help them meet their full potential.

"Cortney is not only my right hand, but my left hand, too," said Bernd. "She builds meaningful relationships with the students, the staff, and our families. She is a real go-getter and is not afraid of hard work. My room could not function the way it does without her. She is a true asset to our building and our team."

Mrs. Brown is an exceptional paraprofessional, who plays a very important role in every classroom she assists with. When you observe Mrs. Brown working with students, it is difficult to tell her apart from the classroom teachers that she assists. Mrs. Brown quickly learns the routine of the classroom and the expectations of the teacher, to ensure she helps to run a strong instructional environment for all students. Mrs. Brown has an positive personality that students and staff enjoy being around, helping to create a fun and engaging setting for all. Mrs. Brown works exceptionally well with students who struggle with behavior. She is always fair with students, while also encouraging students to achieve their very best. Mrs. Brown is a vital part of our Kennedy team, and is instrumental in the success of our school.

My Granddaughter Scarlett is in her classroom Scarlett is Autistic and can have very rough days. This person loves her through these moments. She is such as asset to this community.

Mrs.Brown is my daughter’s favorite! Scarlett is autistic and can be very defiant and hard to handle. Mrs.Brown has formed a very special bond with Scarlett and goes above and beyond for her. Scarlett loves Mrs.Brown and tells me all the time. I feel so lucky to have her, I know Scarlett’s progress has a lot to do with the family environment Mrs. Brown and the staff at Kennedy Elementary provide for their kids!
