LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Amber DeMorse was nominated by her department supervisor, Michelle Walsh.

Mrs. DeMorse is a social worker extraordinaire working under the umbrella of the Student and Support Services (SSS) Department as a district lead. She is responsible for monthly meeting agendas for the 25 school social workers and 15 mental health counselors in her district. She also provides training and assigns mentors to the new employees. More importantly, Mrs. DeMorse works with school personnel across the district to secure clothing, school materials, food, shelter and transportation for students and families in need. School social workers connect people with resources. Mrs. DeMorse develops strong relationships with community providers so they know the needs of the student population. 

"Amber makes a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable students and is deserving of any award and recognition she receives," said Walsh. "She truly is a champion of children."
