Kelly Hill was nominated by her colleague and the parent of a student, Nicole Sherrill.

"Kelly gave my son a chance in a regular education classroom," said Sherrill. "My son was moved to an EC class for Kindergarten because of behaviors, and I was not sure about who to put him with when moving him back to a regular education classroom for first grade. While talking to Mrs. Hill, she assured me that my son would be fine with her. Mrs. Hill and my son had some very tough days in her class, but she never gave up on him. She was always loving, kind, and excited to see him every day in her classroom. She put the spark back into my son's eyes about school. Because my son was in EC for most of his Kindergarten career, he was behind with reading comprehension. With Mrs. Hill's hard work and dedication, my son left first grade on grade level in all subjects! Mrs. Hill was heaven sent for my son and a blessing who we so graciously needed. Because of her, my son is thriving in his classes and enjoys learning and coming to school. I could not have asked for a better teacher for my child."
