Ellane Gilmore was nominated by a friend, Octavia Harris.
Mrs. Gilmore is more than just a teacher and a mentor to everyone she meets. She is family. She is very passionate about what she does and she never gives up. Mrs. Gilmore pushes her students to be the best that they can be and more.
She is also a motivator. When anyone is down, she is right there in a second to pick them back up. She is a shoulder for students to cry on and a personal cheerleader.

El'laine Gilmore is an amazing teacher, an advocate for her profession, and a leader in her field.
Mrs. Gilmore is an amazing teacher. Her number 1 priority is her students. She focuses on students growth, wellbeing, and success. In her classroom, individual student growth is monitored constantly. She understands what her students know and what instructional skills her students need. She works with children one-on-one and in small groups to ensure each child gains the foundational knowledge necessary to build on skills. The classroom community she creates makes every child feel special. Children feel free to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes. Successes are celebrated daily. Mrs. Gilmore creates a loving, supportive leaning environment where students feel safe and excel.
Mrs. Gilmore is an advocate for her students, school, district, and community. She has always conveyed the positive and great things in Aberdeen, Mississippi. She is one of these great things. She works with parents for a seamless home-to-school support system for learners.
In the four years I worked with Mrs. Gilmore she served in many leadership roles; special education lead teacher, district safety coordinator, member of the school leadership team, school federal programs committee, to name a few. She was eager to assist in any capacity that was needed. Her diligence in so many areas was essential to Aberdeen Elementary School's success.
Mrs. Gilmore puts her entire heart and soul into her job. It is more than a job to her, it is her passion and mission. I am honored to have had the privilege to work with her! Congratulations Gilmore! You are a true life changer!!!!
El’laine is the most dedicated teacher I know! She loves all her students and they all know that. She is a wonder friend who is always there when you need her. So very blessed she is in my life.
El’Lane teaches with a heart. She genuinely cares about her students. El’Lane and her husband, Matthew are in my Sunday School Class. She has introduced charitable projects to help needy students. We are all blessed!

She is a self starter and takes responsibility for improving the educational opportunities for all the students. She has the true heart of a servant and the dedication to see things through while never compromising her integrity.
Mrs. Gilmore is and has always been an asset to the Aberdeen School District. We love her and all that she stands for as a teacher. She goes above and beyond the call of duty. She deserves and she has earned this award through her hard work and dedication to the students in this district. She continues to be positive influence even to the students that have moved on. My son still considers her as one of his favorite teachers.
Mrs. Gilmore changed my life as an educator! I was a first year teacher when I stepped into that second grade classroom nearly 8 years ago, I was terrified. She and another teacher there took me in, guided me and helped me in anyway that I needed! She helped me become the teacher I am today. She has ALWAYS cared for those children as they were her own. She cares about their education as well as their Homelives. She is definitely a life changer!!!

Oh my!! What can I say about Mrs. Gilmore?? She is a true life changer. She certainly changed mine and gave me a new perspective on teaching. I had only been 2 years when I met her. I struggled with classroom management and she worked so patiently with me and showed me many strategies to use for different types of behaviors. She not only guided me in teaching, but she also became a very dear friend. I have personally witnessed Mrs. Gilmore going above and beyond her duties at Aberdeen Elementary School to ensure that all of her students felt valued, appreciated, loved, and successful!!

When I moved to Sulligent in 1998, I was upset about starting over in a NEW school, having to make NEW friends, just in general didn't want to be there. Ellane was the youth minister at the time and invited me to attend the youth group one Sunday night. Well I hid in my room crying, just did no want to go. If you know Ellane you know she doesn't take NO for an answer. She sent Haley, one of the girls in our youth group to calm me down and bring me over. That day was life changing for me. Because of her HUGE heart and insisting on getting me involved I made friends and memories that will last a life time! She was always much more than just my youth leader, she was a mentor, friend and someone who truly cared about me and each one of her other babies in our youth group, or any other child she came in contact with. She got me thru many difficult times thru my years there in Sulligent and I will be forever grateful to her!!! She has the biggest HEART of any one I've ever known!!

I really can’t put into words how awesome of a teacher, friend, and lady that Mrs Gilmore is. She has been with my family through the school system and Boyscout’s. My daughter Zoey will tell you that Mrs Gilmore is awesome and the best. She makes each individual child feel as if they are the only child she is teaching because she always has time for each of them. She can take a scared child and make them feel brave, a sad child and out joy in their heart, unloved child and make them feel more loved than anyone else. Without Mrs Gilmore my baby Zoey would have given up when she was struggling and was held back a year, but she took Zoey and worked with her everyday even checked on her outside the school to make sure that Zoey was not in need of anything. She was a voice of love and compassion whenever our family was going through a difficult time. She is full of love and encouragement for everyone that she meets.
I’ve known this sweet gal for many years. We don’t get together busy busy. She has my heart because she truly loves. She loves God,Family and friends. Always has others first in her life. She is my hero!
Nothing changes lives like prayer. I can tell you that El’lane prays for ALL of those in her life constantly. Every single Monday she sends out a Bible verse to her family and friends (individually) and one-by-one she prays for the person on the receiving end. She has done this for over a year now! If calling out our names to THE Life Changer (our Heavenly Father) doesn’t define El’lane as a life changer, i don’t know what does! I’m so thankful for her prayers & her commitment to bringing God’s will to others’ lives.
Where do I begin? Mrs.Glimore is more than just a teacher! She’s a mentor,motherly figure, motivator and etc. Mrs.Glimore have changed me and former classmates by turning our Can’t into Can and our Won’t into Will. Mrs.Glimore have a huge impact over people lives.

Ellane Gilmore has a heart of GOLD! I have a son with Autism. When my son attended Aberdeen Elementary Mrs.Gilmore was one of his teachers. I was quite nervous about my son attending school. When I observed how professional, humble, and caring she was with my son...I was relieved..I didn't worry as much. She is a GREAT teacher. Every morning I watch how she smiles, speaks, and hugs most of the kids as they leave their parents cars. That little gesture alone makes the kids feel good about themselves...I can tell by their smiles...and also my daughter tells me...lol..Teaching is her passion. You can see it in her smile...her eyes..and the way she teaches her students. You were Heaven sent to Aberdeen Elementary.
Ellane was my youth director at church. She was a great mentor and friend, and huge part of my teenage years.
Ellane is a terrific friend, a tremendous teacher, and the best example of a Christian woman. She puts her all into caring for her family, her community, and her students. Ellane approaches situations and people with an open mind, welcomes them wholeheartedly into her life, inspires them to be great, and loves them along their journey. I honestly believe that all of the people whose lives she’s touched, particularly the young people she works with at school are better humans because she’s touched their lives :)

I’ve known Ellane for 40 years. She is a bright light in the lives of everyone she meets and she has been since she was just a child. Having known El’lane since I was twelve years old, I can confidently say she played an active role in shaping the wife, mother, and follower of Christ I am today. As a teenager, el’lane Was my youth director. I can’t tell you how many nights she sat up to talk with, pray over, and comfort a group of teenagers, who at times were not easy to love. She was and is a safe place for so many children. I am honored now to call her friend.

The word I would use to describe Ellane is "determined"! If she takes on a project, she works as hard , as long ,as dedicated, until the project is complete! The reason that she does this is because she really cares and loves what she does and enjoys helping others succeed.

Although I've never been in a classroom with Ellane, I attend church with her and her precious family and she has been a friend to me and my family for many years! A very special person who has changed many lives. I never had her as a teacher in a classroom, but I rode down a creek, in a canoe, between Ellane and her husband many many times. I still remember her challenging me as a young fella in the subject of history as we floated the creek, and the countless life lessons I learned sitting between the two of them so many times!! Definitely a life changer.

Words fail to express or explain the obstacles Ellane has overcome to be the best life changer she is today! First, she has comprehensive dyslexia, which has never stood in her way, to teach! She is ever in the corner of a learning and teaching advocate! She knows individually what her students need to succeed and goes to great lengths to ensure their learning success. Even when the "school system" might fail to be the best learning environment for a student, she will find a way to ensure academic success. Her positive, supportive relationships with her student families is as important to the success of teaching!
