WOW... a woman of "many hats!" As the head coach of a youth track club, I would like to support Coach Cherry LifeChanger nomination. She is truly dedicated and committed to all youth from school, church, community and of course the track program. Her efforts and relentless outgoing or should I say "ongoing" efforts encourages students to push beyond their limits, believe in themselves, work hard, and be a team player IN and OUT the classroom. For the last 10 yrs., Coach Cherry partnerships opened doors for Junior Olympians, provided college scholarships and make our team a success. She is truly our LifeChanger, but most importantly family and that says a lot about her!

Congratulations Mrs. McCoy, a nomination well-deserved! Mrs. McCoy joined the GWC family with a positive impact to make a difference in every student and staff life she encounters. As a wife, mother of two teenage children, she places high expectations in her home and it travels everywhere she goes!!!!. She realized that treating her students like employees provides a real-world experience to each of them as they prepare for their future: being on time, strong work ethics, communication and effort will be a footprint they carry throughout their lives. Mrs. McCoy established "Gratitude Behind the Scenes" to help students understand and apply gratitude for those staff members often forgotten such as: cafeteria team, janitorial staff, counselor, attendance clerk, nurse, asst. principal and principal. The class project covered all her class periods allowing them to choose the person to honor, work together as a team and display their appreciation. Her dedication to instill beyond the classroom allowed the students to think beyond themselves and impact others. The success of the "Gratitude Behind the Scenes" continue to evolve in her Career Exploration class instilling compassion, love and respect while appreciating their school environment. Many students, staff and others in the community have been able to experience the strong effect from her professionalism, encouragement and expectations.... her footprints will continue to make a difference and that's why she is a LifeChanger!

It is with great pleasure that I share my experiences with Mrs. Cherry McCoy. As the teacher of her son, I found her to be an awesome mother and wife. She was a great supporter of the class and myself.by volunteering to be the "Room Mother" for my class. She contributed freely and unselfishly to enhance activities for the students to ensure the greatest positive outcome possible. Mrs McCoy was kind and often sent me gifts to brighten my day. Moreover, she would surprise me with lunches many of which were her favorite recipes. She was always professional, positive and encouraging. Furthermore, she always remembered my birthday and special teacher recognitions. Mrs. McCoy participated in field trips, helped with class parties as well as all day Field Day events. She was active on multiple committees and organized a school-wide Career Fair while maintaining a full-time job. I know of no one more deserving of this award due to her compassion for others, her commitment to be an active partner and contributor, and her willingness to serve in any capacity necessary to enrich the lives of others.

Mrs.McCoy, one of the best teacher the world has to offer, has changed my life for the better. She was my Exploring Career teacher in 6th grade at George W. Carver last school year (2017). Being in her class opened my eyes to the wide world of opportunities in the world. By teaching me the difference between a job which is short term and a career which is long term, I was able to get an idea of what I wanted to be or what I wanted my career to be. And learn and research for myself the steps that I will need to start taking to reach my goal of becoming a gynecologist. Not only that, but Mrs. McCoy also taught her students how to act and to present ourselves in a professional environment. Moral of the story she is an outstanding teacher and greatly deserves this nomination and if or if not she wins, Mrs.McCoy will always be an important part of not just me but most of her students hearts, minds, and lives. Thank you Mrs.McCoy for being my Life Changer.

I met Cherry outside of a classroom, but still doing what she loves, working with children. She was a coach for my child's summer track team. As we were a part of the team for several years, our families and children grew close. Cherry always welcomed all of the children and families into not only the team activities, but also her own home. Cherry went above and beyond so that all children had what they needed no matter the circumstance. After several years, my child moved on to another team, but my friendship with Cherry and her family never stopped. Cherry is an advocate for all children, she sees past any issues they may have and tries to help them exceed to their best level. I can see how easy it is for Cherry to grow her impact on the lives of children in the classroom, from the way she did it on the track. Cherry is not going through the motions because it is her job, she is doing it because that's who she is. She lives her life helping others, as a result she is truly a LIFE CHANGER!

Mrs. McCoy is one of the people who brings meaning to her students lives and our lives and who happens to inspire others. She sparks a fire that her students will carry with them for the rest of their days and she is a pillar of hope in the community as well as a catalysts for change in it. Indeed, one last thing I will say is that one of my own LIFE - CHANGING experiences while watching McCoy with her students was when she explained to them the importance of a education and the reason why having a education is important in today's society. Yes I know it sounds normal but the passion she had and the way she told them and the examples she gave them was priceless. Cause you know its not what you say its how you say it. Mrs. Cherry McCoy is a LIFE - CHANGER...

On the first day of school when I first met Mrs.McCoy I thought she was going to be a mean teacher and that i wasn't going to enjoy the class or learn anything useful. As school went on i started to realize that i was enjoying the class from learning about the career clusters, or that our personality, sure Mrs.McCoy can sound mean she is only trying to help us or "be real with us" as she likes to say .Mrs.McCoy is a great teacher i enjoy her charisma,i enjoy how she shares things from her life/experience of what shes being through to assist her students, she has made an impact by helping lazy kids start paying attention in class so they can succeed especially when they get to high-school and college.Mrs. McCoy has been dedicated to the young athletes not just on the track to help them find alternative career and get an education in case their passion for sports, dance e.t.c don't work, also t by securing tutoring when needed and working with parents to find successful avenues for their child.I am heeded to call Mrs.McCoy my teacher, colleague, CONGRATULATION Mrs.McCoy on a nomination as a"Life Changer."

I can think of no person who deserves to be recognized for positively impacting the the lives of everyone that she encounters, but Mrs. Cherry McCoy. I have had the opportunity to observe Mrs. McCoy for many years in the various roles that she embraced at Harry Stone Montessori Academy. I had the privilege of watching Mrs. McCoy wear many "different hats" at Harry Stone,. I would be remiss if I did not take the time to mention just a few of those hats. I was blessed to have her daughter in my 4th ,5th, and 6th grade class, so Mrs. McCoy was the most awesome volunteer that I have ever had in my classes. She knew that I suffered with asthma and severe allergies and could not take my class outside after lunch on many days, so this "virtuous woman" would somehow arrange to have her lunchtime during the time my class was at lunch, so that she could carry them outside for recess. I could always call on her to chaperone on field trips. Also, whenever my class had parties or "food tastings," Mrs. McCoy was always there to help. Mrs. Cherry McCoy will always have a special place in my heart for all of the love and kindness that she shared with my class and me during those years. I could go on and on about this "virtuous woman," but I will mention only one more thing. When I retired in 2015, keep in mind that her children were no longer at Harry Stone during this time, I was coming down the stairs, and whose smiling face was waiting there holding a bouquet of balloons and a gift, but Mrs. Cherry McCoy. May God continue to bless you to impact the lives of everyone that you encounter in such a positive manner. Mrs. Cherry McCoy you are truly a "Lifechanger" in my book. Congratulations!!! Some 26 years ago I hired Cherry Charleston McCoy as a student assistant at the University of North Texas. That meeting would start a relationship that endures to this day. I have watched her grow as a beautiful independent woman who knows what she wants and goes about the business of getting it. She was the first in her family to graduate college and she worked extremely hard to achieve that goal. Her work ethic is second to none. Her attention to detail is something that she has carried all these many years. She expects high levels of achievement from whomever she is working with and in return gives her all to help them achieve their goals. She knows from her own experience that an education unlocks the door to any future you can dream of. Christine Waggoner Retired (UNT) Director of Admissions 1987-2014

Ms. McCoy is definitely a "LifeChanger" and example to all who teach children.

There are many GREAT things to be said about Mrs. Cherry McCoy but the most important thing is that she has a love for people no matter their background or circumstance. Especially the youth that she interacts with; she has a way for gaining their trust and earning their respect which allows them to open up to her. She listens with her heart and her actions show compassion and pure love in the way she responds. She is honest, straightforward and she challenges you to think about your actions. But most of all her sincerity starts at home with her family, I have the luxury of knowing Mrs. McCoy personally and it is a true joy to see how she interacts with those close to her. I believe that what her students see at school is an overflow of love that she gives and receives at home. Mrs. McCoy is more than a "LifeChanger" she is a gift to this world directly from God. To know her is to love her, to interact with her is to experience her sharing the gifts that God has given her to positively impact those who has an encounter with her. If you have the pleasure of experiencing Mrs. McCoy you will never be the same!!!! Cherry, I love you to LIFE and I am truly glad grateful that God allowed our paths to connect. You are more than deserving of this award. With love, Satavia

I was thrilled to be able to observe Cherry McCoy teach several times as I served as her university supervisor during her intern year of teaching. It is exciting to see a teacher who is always prepared, always shows enthusiasm for her class and love for the students, and who teaches her students to follow expectations set for class and show respect for the teacher and each other. That teacher was Cherry McCoy. Education needs more teachers like her, who love their job and their students. She brings out the best in each of them and teaches them so much about living a successful life. She changes the lives of her students.

Ms. Cherry McCoy is an awesome person! Her spirit of motivation and positivity empowers both young and old. She helps others to envision their own success and provides tangible methods/goals to reach those achievements. I have often referred to Ms. Cherry McCoy as a life coach, but LifeChanger is much more appropriate!

Cherry McCoy is an amazing individual. When we first met she told me she wanted to change careers to become a teacher so that she could help kids on a more personal level. She left her already established career to do just that. She also spends her time outside the classroom helping others. She is a take charge individual who does things for others not for the recognition but to help change their lives for the better. She has also taught her kids to do the same. She is a very private person but this nomination is not a surprise to me. I'm glad she is being recognized for her hard work which is done inside and outside of the classroom.
