Senior Chief Horace White was nominated by Thomas Ledbetter, a member of the community.
Senior Chief White became a JROTC instructor after serving in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. There is one special student, Kenny Ayers, who has benefited greatly from Senior Chief's mentoring.
"My freshman year was really rough for me," said Ayers. "I moved from a small charter school where everybody knew each other to a community high school with 3000 kids. Most of my friends from my old school became really distant from me, and I didn't make an effort to socialize. But, through all of that, I knew I'd at least go to one class I enjoyed, JROTC. If I hadn't joined JROTC, I probably would've given up on school all together...Senior Chief White really helped pull me out of a rough time in my life!"
