LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Anne Deel was nominated by her colleague of 15 years, Lori Mensing.

"Anne and I have worked on the same team. We have been partners with a special education class, and we have had the unique experience of teaching each other's children," said Mensing. "She has been in education for many years. She has a global outlook which is much needed in the present education system. These experiences have enabled her to be an outstanding educator."

Mrs. Deel works diligently with students to improve their reading and comprehension. She comes to school early and stays late to insure her planning is done and the students are engaged. Her STAAR scores support this effort. She was one of the few teachers to take her students from approaches (lowest performance level)  to a master level performance (the highest level) throughout the course of a year. Furthermore, she lives in the community she teaches. She and her husband have both been involved in school and community activities. They have been asked to speak at events and work special events because of their outstanding dedication to both their school and community.   

"I feel she needs to be recognized for her work ethic and her unwavering devotion to the teaching craft," said Mensing.
