Mrs. Furr is an awesome mentor for future educators. This year my daughter served as a student-teacher under Mrs. Furr. Mrs. Furr’s teaching skills and joyful spirit inspired my future teacher to know she is on the right career path. My daughter was able to observe Mrs. Furr’s love of teaching and strong dedication to making a difference in children’s lives in the classroom. She is a special person, who executes with purpose and has an unique mentoring gift.

Mrs. Furr is not only a phenomenal teacher (my two sons were both taught by her and I’m forever grateful for that), but she is the kind of teacher who helps her colleagues be better educators as well. She inspires and encourages everyone at her school. She pushes her colleagues to go above and beyond for the students. She is a role model and a leader in education!

I’ve had the privilege of having 2 of my daughters in Mrs. Furr’s classroom. My eldest daughter had been struggling with a learning disability that he gone undiagnosed for 2 years. Mrs. Furr picked up on it within the first week of teaching her. She went above and beyond, working with me, her doctors, and my daughter to come up with strategies to help her reach her full potential. Now my daughter excels and i attribute it to Mrs. Furr’s ability to make each one of her students feel like they are her top priority. My middle child is currently in Mrs. Furr’s classroom and I am continuously amazed at the insight she has into what “makes her tick” she is able to capitalize on her strengths, at the same time allowing her to work in her weaknesses. What is so awe-inspiring, is that, after talking to the parents of her other students, it is clear that she does this for EVERY ONE OF THEM. In an educational environment where emphasis is put on testing and standards, Mrs. Furr is still able to make each one of her students feel like the amazing INDIVIDUAL that they are. She has truly been a life changer for our family.

Mrs Furr has a heart for children. I have seen her patiently and lovingly work with kids from all backgrounds, all academic levels, with different medical conditions and with many different behavior challenges for several years. She is genuine and she meets children where they are. She is willing to think outside the box to find things that work for each child. She is very observant and quick to notice anything that is interfering with her students' health and happiness. Mrs. Furr is a good listener and a good communicator. This applies to students, parents and co workers. She changes lives daily!

Amanda Furr truly changes the lives of her students. He unwavering enthusiasm for the art of teaching is evident when you step into her classroom. She spends countless hours, late into the evening as well as early mornings providing support to her students, preparation of complex lessons, meeting with parents, or often serving as a mentor to student teachers. She taught my son as a second grader and her enthusiasm for learning has ignited a fire in him. As her colleague, I will never forget how she described her challenging students as "projects" or "puzzles" to figure out, not as a burden or difficulty, Perhaps the most profound example I can think of is her working closely with a student who had selective mutism--she would not speak at school. Working in team with a therapist and simply never giving up on this student, that child not speaks freely in school. This would not have happened without the tireless dedication to "solving the puzzle," that was this students' selective mutism.

An Inspiration. An Empowerment. An Engagement FacilItator. These three characteristics are just a short sample of the many you demonstrate with all of your students, even including me, every single day. Too often we progress through the ‘ropes of life,’ and do not invest the time to express our gratitude and authentic value for the support you so eagerly share for our growth, not just for your students but fellow coworkers. You make me feel authentically supported when you say, “Please let me know how I can be helpful” and genuinely mean it. You promote an environment where students feel like they are able to not only share their contribution, but also know it is actually considered and appreciated. Thank you for being genuine. Thank you for seeing students where they are in learning and sharing. Thank you for being you. Thank you for helping me.Thank you for being one of the great teachers out there. May you continue to inspire others to achieve the greatness you have.
