Brenda Burnsed was nominated by her principal, Debbie Williams.

Mrs. Burnsed is truly a working woman, fom the time she gets to work at 7:15 AM, up until she leaves in the afternoons after 3:30 PM. She answers the telephone, distributes medications, types purchase orders, makes announcements over the intercom, and assists teachers, students and administration with a smile, and she's always available when Williams needs her.

Mrs. Burnsed is a conscientious, focused worker. She is friendly and greets everyone with grace, while attending to her many duties. She barely takes a lunch break, but never complains. She goes to eat her lunch in a quiet spot, and as soon as her strength is replenished, she gets back to her post and handles the business of the school effectively and efficiently.

"I have only known Mrs. Burnsed since July 2010, when I became assistant principal at Blountstown High School, but I find her to be an integral member of our staff." Williams said. "Mrs. Burnsed has shown me time and time again that she is a willing worker. There is not a task that is too great or too small for her, because she comes to Blountstown High School every day, ready to work."

She loves interacting with students, and she serves as a personal mentor to several of the school's at-risk students.  Mrs. Burnsed has a calming effect that puts students and parents at ease. She takes her job very seriously. "One diabetic student needs to take his medicine at a certain time everyday, so Mrs. Burnsed brought in an egg timer that she sets every day, so she can make sure that the young man gets his medicine," Williams said. "She is simply a wonderful person."

In March 2012, Mrs. Burnsed was diagnosed with cancer. She was out of work for about six weeks to have surgery and recover.  The students arranged a fundraiser for her and presented her with a check when she returned to help with her medical expenses. In turn, she donated the check to other needy students and to the Ryan Flowers Scholarship Fund.
The students truly love Mrs. Burnsed.

"While Mrs. Burnsed was out for surgery, I dreaded her being gone and was relieved when she returned to work," Williams said. "Her efficiency is missed every day she takes off, which is not that often. When Mrs. Burnsed is at her desk, I feel confident that matters are being handled correctly. Mrs. Burnsed is definitely trustworthy and dependable. I love Mrs. Burnsed and am truly glad and proud to have her working at Blountstown High School."

Brenda is an amazing woman and an extremely hard worker. She goes way beyond the title of Receptionist at BHS. I have been at that front desk and watched her tackle the phones, assist students, find subs, do NURSE duties and so much more! There is only one Mrs.Brenda and I'm so glad she calls BHS home! We love you and you truly are a LifeChanger!

I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Brenda as a former school board member and she has always been professional and attended to any request with efficiency. I have since resigned from that position, and encounter Mrs. Brenda almost weekly regarding my son who attends BHS. She makes BHS a welcoming place and is kind to everyone that walks through the doors.

Brenda is truly a blessing to anyone she encounters during her work day. Her calm demeanor is unmatched. Top notch service from start to finish. I have the utmost respect and admiration for her due to the way she handles everything, good or bad. She is highly deserving of this recognition and is everything Dr. Williams described to a tea.

Brenda is a dedicated, hard worker. Our school wouldn't run as smoothly as it does without her. She juggles many tasks at the same time in a very stressful environment. She is the glue that holds everything together.

Brenda Burnsed is a great asset to Blountstown High School. She goes above and beyond what is expected of her daily. She can manage the office, tend to all of the students who have a crisis and take care of the faculty and staff at the same time. If a group needs to raise money for someone in the community by selling meals, Brenda collects the money and has the teachers meals ready for their lunch. She is the mother of our school, she takes care of our needs even if it is not part of her job responsibilities. Brenda is one of the most dependable, trustworthy, and of high moral character that I know, she is very deserving of this award.

Mrs. burnsed is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever meet in my life. Anytime I needed something at school I went to her and she helped me. I have never seen her in a bad mood. Even when she isn't feeling her best she is still the nicest person. I don't know how she does it everyday but I'm glad she does!!

Brenda is just a great person to run into first thing in the morning, always has a touch of sunshine to share, even if she's having a cloudy morning. She is definitely a must-have in your life when you are a new teacher to the district and school, because she will guide you through all the different things you have to deal with when you first get to school. But she's not wishi-washy and she certainly isn't a doormat. She is a person you quickly learn to love and respect.

Mrs. Burnsed does everything she can to make sure Blountstown High is a safe place for everyone. She is the most helpful, kindhearted, humble person I have known since Freshman year. I hear nothing but good things. She truly deserves this. #LCOY

Brenda is an amazing lady who helps everyone that enters the doors of BHS, greeting them with a friendly smile and an offer to help. Last year I was in need of photos of when my father was a teacher at BHS and Brenda went above and beyond to help me get all I needed. She is a treasure to the school and to this community.
