Mark Fender was nominated by an anonymous student.

"Mr. Fender has not only changed my life, but the lives of every student he teaches," said his nominator. "I truly believe he is more than my high school band director, but a very important person in my life and the lives of others."

Mr. Fender has led his band to local competitions and many first divisions in UIL events. He creates amazing relationships with all of his students, and there isn't a single student in his class who does not like him. He teaches in such a great way and is always so helpful if any of his students need anything. Mr. Fender makes band feel like more than an extracurricular, but a passion. He has such a great attitude while teaching that anyone would be able to tell he enjoys teaching the material that he does. There's nowhere he'd rather be than teaching students in band class.

"I joined band in fifth grade, and I instantly fell in love with it," said his nominator. "School went from a place to learn about math, reading, science, and history, to the place where I get to spend 45 minutes a day doing something I love. When I went into ninth grade, I joined the high school band. Mr. Fender became my main band teacher, and it got even better. Now, I am a junior, and there is literally no other class I love more than my first-period band class. That is because of Mr. Fender.

"I am one year from graduating, and I am envisioning music in my future," said his nominator. "Mr. Fender has changed my life for the better, and there is no other teacher I'd rather be taught by than him."

Mr Fender truly inspired my son and many in his class. Always with a kind word and his hard work. My son really enjoyed everything surrounding his band life and the folks in it. Great job Mr. Fender. Thanks for all you do

I’m a teacher largely due to Mr. Fender and his impact on my life. I experienced first hand the positive impact he has on his students and knew that I wanted to be that person for kids. His encouragement and support helped me through high school I will forever be grateful for him.

As one of his past math and band students, I am truly honored and grateful for my child to have him as her Band director , we have been blessed with his understanding towards all his students and motivation (when he does with some reverse psychology ) which has been the key to these kids success!

Mr Fender is a great and humble teacher and he is fair and expects your best. He accepted me into his drumline my sophomore year with no prior experience and I quickly started marching because of his thorough teaching.
